Hot springs in the middle of the Bolivian altiplano, over 4,000 meters above the sea, a good place to take a break and have lunch, it is recommended not to spend a lot of time in the water. The services are basic.

This places is stunning! A warm bath always maes you feel great when you have some discomfort due to altitude sickness. The pink flamingos walk around this thermal pool and it is like you take bath with the flamingos. The change rooms are close by and clean!

Large lake fed by thermal waters. Lots of birds around and llamas and vacunas. Waters are said to have medicinal properties.

Can get crowded at the Termas de Polques. Otherwise it's part of your tour and one of the first stops. Depending on your tour, you have a limited time to stay here in the Termas.

And a towel! Because of the wind and weather conditions in Bolivia to leave the pools is the worst part.

This place is really magic and should not be missed. Enjoy the views while being in the water or if you happen to stay in the hostel nearby, enjoy the night sky while in the water.

You're in the middle of nowhere surrounded by surreal beauty and have the opportunity to soak in thermal pools at an elevation of 4406 meters. What's not to love?

I've read some of the negative reviews complaining about the basic/dirty facilities and if you are so uptight where you cannot enjoy the rugged beauty of Bolivia without overlooking that this is a poor and developing country my suggestion is for you to stick to all-inclusive resorts with fruity umbrella drinks where there are staff to kiss your butt and fetch your towel. The lagunas route in Bolivia is remote with very basic amenities which contribute to the unique experiences of remote Bolivia.

We did a 3 day tour of the Lagunas and it was the best value of our 5 months of traveling on a motorcycle through South America and I was happy to pay the price of admission and contribute to the local economy.

We originally planned to try the hot water pool, but after arriving and seeing how crowded it was and how bad the facilities were, we decided to skip it. Toilets were dirty and disgusting, the changing room didn't look like I wanted to leave my stuff there either. The surrounding lake, Laguna Chalviri, is a nice view with the flamingos, but far less impressive than the previous lagoons.

The hot springs themselves are lovely and have a great view of the lagoon with flamingos in close proximity. The staff however are rude and when we asked for towels they made up a ridiculous price as were tourists. Make sure you take your own towel! The changing facilities are pretty grubby also.

I love hot pools, and as I live in New Zealand we have plenty. However getting in thermal water at this elevation was a real treat. I went in the afternoon and it was really quiet. We saw in the morning that there were lots of people in the pool so avoided it and went on to a Laguna Verde and on our return the pool was empty. The changing rooms were very basic but worthwhile putting up with this.
