Make sure you review the boards in the ticket office area as these contain fascinating information on the village, stolen artefacts & traditions. It'll take around 45 mins to see the houses & beautiful views. There are also some faded petroglyphs to enjoy.

I am amazed by the size of the volcano and how it becomes a habitat for varies organism. It's a bit rainy and foggy the day I visit but still magnificent.

We visited this site as part of a tour about the Birdman culture on Eastern Island. I am not sure I would go there for just the crater, but as part of the larger tour it was fine.
