Right close to town, nicely restored Ahu and Moai. The restored eyes on the one Moai are stunning. There is some controversy over whether all Moai had the coral (white) eyes, or only special ones, so this is the only restored Moai with eyes. The Te Moai Sunset restaurant nearby gives a great view of the three Ahu and the... More

The best place to admire the sunset! There a moai has been well restored with its eyes (copy) and the place is very well maintained. To get the best pictures of this moai, come early in the morning... great atmosphere with the rising sun illuminating the town, the sea and this archeological site...

Beautiful location to watch the sunset between the Moai. Just a short walk from the main road in town and you can relax on the lawn.

Go visit this during the day but seriously, don't forget to go here for sunset! To see the sun setting between the Moai's, is unbelievable!

First stop on the island to see our first moat at sunset. One with eyes painted that was apparently done for a French magazine to show what they originally looked like - interesting spot but other places better

The Ahu Tahai group is not part of the Rapa Nui National Park, thus no admission tickets are required. They are located close to the ocean, down from the museum make a left turn on the road towards the city, until you see the moais on your right. We were there on an early afternoon, there was nobody else there... More

you can imagine the hustle and bustle of people going in and out of the water. the neighbors and kids playing. you just have to sit there and take it all in. the beauty of the water as the backdrop and the maoi. it is hard to imagine

Popular spot for sunset and rightfully so. Colours are beautiful and the silhouettes of the moai make it special.

This visit was an afternoon stop on tour from our first full day. Loved the reconstructive efforts, especially with the eyes slightly pointed upwards - as they should be. The location with the background courtesy of the rolling Pacific made these grounds even more inviting.

This is the first Moai we saw upon arrival in Hanga Roa as they are the closest to the city center and located right there on the waterfront. The views at subset are the most amazing ones since it is directly behind the Moai. This is definitely a must do while on Easter Island.
