The first time we saw any of the attractions on the island, it was such a special moment. The Moai across the island were all breathtaking, as was the stark beauty of the island itself.

Do not only go for sunrise as it is also majestic during daytime. My wife could not get enough of this place and even myself enjoyed every time we got there. The sunrises are packed with people, during the day you can be lucky to...More

This is one of the many must see places on Easter island (Rapa Nui). Unbelievable and really overwhelming, very very happy and thankful to see it in real. There is a moai at the entrance that is known as 'The travelling moai'.

Lovely stop to see the moai and experience their mystic and power. Accessible from the roadway but best to walk in and sit for a while to just contemplate the history and power.

This is the line of 15 imposing stern moai set against the sea and overlooking a former village. Also good views of the mountain around Rano Rauku. I went mid-afternoon and they had good light.

We saw Tongariki twice during the day, and once as a sunrise tour. The morning and afternoon photos were the best. The photos from the sunrise tour were a little disappointing (and sunrise has huge crowds), although the early morning photos looking back towards Rano...More

This is a magical place to visit at sunrise. The sun rises over the ocean between the 15 magnificent Moai. The gates open half an hour before sunrise The light at that time of day is no good for taking photos of the statues from...More

We were there last month (3/2015). They drive on the right side of the road. I saw a car rental place right in town but don't know what they cost. If I were you, I'd take a small group or private tour. The tour guides have... More
