The site of the 15 massive Ahu is truly awe inspiring. The Japanese put an enormous amount of effort into restoring the Ahu and platforms. This place makes for an amazing sunrise shot so I added one of mine. You need your park ticket to walk to them.

Coming here was on my bucket list since I was a teen. It was worth every minute of my life being here and to stand in front of these Moai's was spectacular!

Alongside Rano Raraku and Orongo, Ahu Tongariki is one of the most amazing attractions of Rapa Nui National Park (the US$60 entrance ticket is required to access the park). We went there early in the morning and the sight the Sun coming up behind the 15 moais of Ahu Tongariki was awesome, was something out of this world... Not to... More

This was the crescendo of an amazing trip to visit my sister. Early rise at 5am to drive 20 minutes from Hanga Roa to watch the sun rise between the moai. I can close my eyes and take myself back to this place whenever I feel stressed. You need to have bought a ticket for the national parks to pass... More

This is a postcard type of place. Pretty astonishing to see 15 moais all lined up with the ocean right in back. Would be pretty hard to get here on a bicycle so either come on a tour or rent a car/scooter etc. I rented a car and it's worth it to just drive along the coast and you can... More

Next to Ranu Raraku and Ranu Kau, this is one of the main attractions of the island. If you haven't see this your trip is not complete. Make beautiful and funny pictures on this site. Due to the little hills they made at this location you can pose as a statue next to the 15 other ones!

One of the most photographed spot in the Island and is a tourist favorite for a reason: it is just amazing to see in person. Make sure this is in your must visit list or you will regret it.

Visiting Ahu Tongariki at sunrise was the highlight of our stay on the island. It is definitely worth getting up early. Our tour guide gave us tips on taking better photos further away the platform. Be sure to get up on the hill to line up with the moai's for an awesome photo.

Experiencing the sunrise here is truly magical. Maybe my favourite moment of the whole trip and definitely unforgettable. The drive to the site was also memorable, under the stars. We arrived ~1hr before the scheduled sunrise, so we could see the transition from night to dawn to sunrise.
