Hiking around the quarry, relaxing around the crater lake, and avoiding the herds of cows and horses makes for a full day. Even got the guy to put the Rano Raraku stamp into my passport ;-)

Such an interesting and visually compelling location to visit - one of the best places on the island. We had a guide with us who explained what we were seeing, which was definitely helpful. There is a fair amount of walking, but it is not...More

This is a must see. It is where the torsos all had their beginning. It is amazing to see them "marching" down the hill to their final destinations around the island. The mystery of how they arrived around the island is really brought home when...More

This is a MUST for all tourists to Easter Island. Fascinating to see the moais from the quarry all over the ground and in various states. I went with a very knowledgable guide and was also very lucky in not having many other people around...More

Just like the pictures in the history books! When I think of Easter Island (Rapa Nui) I always imagine these moais! Great to see these in person. Had a great experience exploring Easter Island and Rano Raraku park.

This is the quarry where the statues were carved and many remain in the side of the barren wind swept hill. They are all different and all quite fascinating

I got here just as the gates were closing but even from where I stood the Mo'ai were still able to inspire awe. Looking at them flanked by the hillside and crater was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

The entire island is amazing, the quarry with so many statues to be seen. Make sure you take the path to the left so you get to see the crater. The market sells many items, and food and refreshments are available. Costs $$ to use...More
