I need to return in summer when the lake is said to be Emerald colour like the name!! The way it is set out just tells me the popularity in summer!! I was grateful for this preview during our week in Whitehorse for the Northern Light viewing from 19th November 2016. The whole lake was frozen like a lot of... More

We did not visit the ranch, but enjoy the nature and beauty of a real emerald that became a lake. Do not miss it. We rented a car in Skagway and were able to enjoy nature for 75 miles and get here; the cruise did not provide this trip.

Our tour guide used the Emerald Lake Viewpoint to turn back to Carcross and it made an excellent photo opportunity. The color of the lake is amazing and the surrounding wilderness is breathtaking.

This is a true gem - we were lucky that our tour bus driver stopped to show us this beauty! Although we didn't get to see a ranch etc - just stopping to see the lake was breathtaking!

We drove here from Skagway on our way to Whitehorse. The lake is absolutely beautiful! I took pictures of it both in the morning and in the afternoon and the colors seem to "pop" more in the afternoon with sun higher in the sky.

2011 was their last year in business - they lost the lease on their land. The owners still have their horse rental operation in Whitehorse.

We were on a cruise and one port was Skagway, Ak. Wanting something different than what we had done last time in Skagway I booked a tour with Dyea Dave for Emerald Lake which is just past Carcross hoping for good reflection pictures. It was too windy for reflections, but the colors in the lake are amazing, much like the... More

It was a really beautiful lake. It is like a blue-green beach in the mountain. Took a jeep fro Alaska jeep rental up the Klondike HWY and turned around there. My family was really glad we went on up to see it. Carcross town wasn't an over priced tourist trap!

We visited from our cruise ship, but did not book this thru the cruise line. The scenery on the bus ride to the ranch is definitely stunning, but there are other ways to see this. The horseback ride is an approx 2 hour ride thru very dusty, wooded trails. Other than one very nice overlook of the emerald lake, basically... More
