We drove by car from Whitehorse to Skagway with a planned stop in Carcross at about the time the train departed back to Skagway.
What a surprise to see how all the nice changes the village has made to their village commons area. More shopping and the cleanest public restroom we have encountered in quite some time.
We checked out the shops and bought some treats at a little bakery we found up the street before we continued our travels to Skagway

We were on a tour into the Yukon and stopped here. It was quite surprising how beautiful this location is and the stores there sell fantastic items. We bought some lovely paintings. Well worth a visit.

It consists of a group of small buildings housing retailers selling stuff to tourists. Many indigenous-made items. Not bad for what it is. There's even a psychic and tarot card reader.

What a wonderful space: even though most things were closed as tourist season starts mid-may, I quite enjoyed walking in this beautiful space.

My wife and I recently visited Carcross with friends while on a cruise tour in Alaska. While there, our tour stopped at Carcross Commons. This is a really nice shopping area with numerous shops with interesting local items. We enjoyed this local gem.

This shopping area is at the entrance to the town. It has 20 stores, restaurants, craft stores, information center in a pleasant boardwalk area. There are plaques which give historical information of the First Nations people of this area. Worthwhile stop.

A set of buildings nicely decorated with totems. From there you have a beautiful view of the railway bridge. Carcross is worth a little visit as it is a fairly authentic village

You showed a picture of the metal art. In particular ones depicting the aurora borealis. We looked at them too, but didn't purchase anything that day. I thought it would be easy to find a website for the art. But, so far I have found nothing. Do you have the contact information for that artist and a website? Thanks for any information you may have.
