Famed the world over, this is one of the most beautiful mosques I have ever seen. The interior is covered with delicate mirror mosaics, and stunning tile-work and gold leaf in abundance make it a feast for the eyes. At the time of visiting I was not allowed to enter inside the shrine itself but was permitted to look in through the doors. Also note that as a tourist you will have to have an official guide with you. You will also have to pass through a security check (as does everyone else of course), so be mindful that it may take a little longer to visit than anticipated.

A place of pilgrimage but also worth visiting for its unbelievable mirror work, it contains the tomb of the brother of Imam Reza (PBUH) who died in the 8th century. undefined Shah Cheraagh is a funerary monument and mosque in Shiraz.

The first construction of it is attributed to Atabak Sa'ad Ebn-e-Zangi. In the 8th century AH it was repaired and developed by the mother of Ishaq Injoo. In the early 10th century AH, it was again repaired. But late in the century, an earthquake ruined it so it underwent renovation once more. undefined In the year 1243 AH, during the reign of Fathali Shah Qajar, some sections were added to it. itto.org In the year 1958 its dome was reconstructed. This shrine is one of the most famed places of pilgrimage for the followers of the Shiite sect in Iran and in the world

Shiraz's Shah Cheragh Shrine is a very interesting place to visit, as it gives a good exemple of what Holy Shrines look like in Iran. The dome, with its rosebud shape, is a typical feature of Shirazi architecture.

Non-muslims visitors are accompanied by a guide, for free, who give them insight about the place and its history. It's also possible to visit a small part of the interior, to see the mirror-work. Like in all holy shrines, women are required to wear a chador, which can be borrowed for free at the entrance.

It's also interesting to visit in the evening, after sunset. The lights makes the place even more beautiful and the atmosphere is very lively, with many families gathering in the yard.

This was one of the most beautiful shrines I've ever visited. And the tour guide the site provided was extremely knowledgeable. He explained every detail of the site and its history.

I'd definitely visit this site again. Too many tourists just visit the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque (pink mosque) and skip this one. But this site is much more impressive and historically significant.

Everyone travelling to Shiraz should visit Shah-e-Cheragh Shrine.

Shahcheragh Shrine is the tomb of Ahmed bin Musa (Imam Reza's brother) in the center of Shiraz and it is the third most important shrine in Shia Islam in Iran, after the Imam Reza shrine and Fatima Masumeh Shrine. I had at beginning some difficulties with entrance but finally somebody asked me to follow him after checking my bag and then showed me bathroom and left me. I have no idea if I was supposed to wait for a free guide or not but after washing myself I began to visit whole place. It is good that still there are some places for free for tourists. That place was really amazing beautiful and very interesting.

This shrine was built to commemorate Ahmed Ibn-e Musa, Imam Reza’s brother, who was martyred in Shiraz. it is really eye-catching, I was amazed by its mirror works and tile works. Also the atmosphere is friendly.

The shrine itself is a lovely example of contmporary Iranian religuious architecture, but a visit is much more about getting an understanding of Iranian people and way of life. There are two options for a visit: one is to visit the shrine with a guide (mandatory if you want to visit the interior), or politely decline and wander about the courtyard unhindered. In the latter case, there will be an opportunity to interact with Iranians from diverse backgrounds, an experience matching or surpassing the lovely architecture of the shrine.
