Gardens are beautiful (even in the rain in winter), they even have a maze. Sadly we missed the Saturday 2pm tour of the trenches, (they were training trenches for soldiers in the first world war) but there was plenty of activities inside the castle itself...More
Decided to make a visit before we made our way home after a wonderful 3 night stay at the adjoining Warner hotel. Glad we made that decision. The castle had a gothic feel but was stunning in design. The furnishings and decor fitted the castle...More
The last day of our holiday we visited Bodelwyddan. What a stunning place: reminded me a bit of Belvoir Castle. Beautiful tiling, lovely billiard table, cast iron fireplaces, magnificent drapes, gorgeous wallpaper, fabulous woodwork, and views for miles and miles! Fantastic topical displays commemorating the...More
Excellent and educational display in the trenches. Knowledgeable, interested and engaging guides. The rain added to the atmosphere but didn't impede access as the trench is so well and safely constructed. Thank you to everyone. The castle exhibition is simply exceptional.

You probably wouldn’t make a special visit there otherwise, though, as the rooms you can...More
Excellent as ever!! Trenches are great, although you do have to BOOK to go in,the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable, shame to see them abused,as happened today.
The castle and grounds are beautiful, well worth a visit any time of year.
So to preface this review, our family went to +10 castles in Scotland and then onto ~5 castells in Wales (see my +15 TripAdvisor castle reviews)... calling Bodelwyddan a ‘castle’ is a stretch of anyone’s vivid imagination as this only vaguely resembles a castle-like...More

We are certainly disability friendly with wheelchairs available if required, plus a lift to the first floor to enable you to visit the WW1 exhibition presently on display, plus the illusions gallery. There is a second floor, with the Lowther room and an Edwardian/Victorian classroom which is not accessible.
