No access to the abbey. Very disappointed.
A group of us visited Kelso hoping to see the abbey.
There was no information on the website.

Unfortunately the Abbey is closed due to structural wrok being carried out, but I was still able to see through the railings and take some photos. Hopefully it won't be too long until it opens again.

Sadly we can't go inside the grounds to get conkers but never mind. This would've look nice if it wasn't destroyed, it still looks good though.

Closed when we ere there but we could see most of it from the fence and the interpretation boards were avaailable to read. One was filthy and used up a packet of wet wipes, appreciated by visitors that followed us. Very little left compared with Jedburgh.

My wife, myself and four friends were wandering around Kelso on a beautiful sunny day when we happened across the abbey. It was totally free to stroll around the grounds of this serene site, which is quite unusual nowadays with everyone wanting to make a quick buck, so kudos to the abbey's owners for allowing anyone to take in this place of interest without paying for the privilege. There are plaques dotted around giving very informative information on what you are looking at, so just a nice place to visit whilst in Kelso.

The Abbey is worth seeing. The riverside walk is really enjoyable with a tarmac path as well as grassy areas with seating. But the footpaths throughout Kelso and especially in the market square are filthy due to dog poo - lots of it - PICK IT UP FOLKS !! For that reason alone I don’t recommend the shopping area - watch where you put your feet.

This is a self guided site. Plaques dotted around the site provide information about the Abbey and its history. A lovely site.

There is not a lot of this abbey remaining which is sad because it would of looked superb. I enjoyed picking conkers too. I don’t like how there are nets to stop the birds flying through what would have been the windows.

Stand under ancient ruins and wonder at how our predecessors treated other people’s special places.

Kelso is in the bosom of the Borders close to the River Tweed. Walk round the elegant Square and enjoy fabulous food - the Cobbles, off the Square, is a gem!

Not open when we visited due to lockdown but still interesting to walk round it and read the plaques.
