This was my second time to Rockingham and it was still worth visiting. The house offers a lot of history to explore from the Tudors through to the Victorians. It is set in beautiful grounds, with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. There is a...More

What a way to spend a few hours both in the castle/house and gardens. Cafe offered a good range of food at reasonable prices. Even managed a climb to the top of the tower for wonderful views

We went to the castle for the jousting event and had a lovely afternoon out. We were surprised the castle didn't open until midday but did still have enough time to enjoy the castle, it's beautiful and the jousting. There is a tearoom and there...More

We visited on a hot June day. What a beautiful place in a beautiful setting, both the grounds and surrounding area. This is not a castle in the sense of towers and crenellations (although it once was according to the history and its location) but...More

We visited the castle on Father's day as it was hosting a jousting event (my husband and likes medieval history and knights etc). Whilst I would say that the castle was more of a large manor house, it was still very impressive and enjoyable to...More

Rockingham castle is an amazing place, with outstanding views - for me this was one of the highlights (and we were fortunate that it was good weather), you can see for miles. The Castle itself is still lived in part of the year, and it...More

My friends and I rode out to Rockingham Castle hoping for a photo shoot of our bikes in the castle grounds on the 16th of June. Unfortunately we didn't check the opening times, but didn't think it would be a problem to take some pictures...More

I am sorry to learn of the incident on Friday when you arrived at Rockingham Castle. It is never the intention of any staff to make visitors unwelcome. However, the Castle is privately owned and only open at specific times. As you so rightly state,...More

Inhabited since just after the Conquest, and offering magnificent views of the valley below, Rockingham Castle is an absolute gem amongst English castles. With extensions covering the centuries, you get a real feeling for the place, and the gardens are superbly maintained and easily accessible.
