I called in specifically to view the current Bawden exhibition, never having been to this gallery previously, and I was not disappointed. The gallery is small but 'busy', clean, organised and well laid out. We were greeted by attentive and very friendly volunteers who were...More

With family and friends I visited The Fry Art Gallery today to see the Bawden at Home exhibition (on until October 2018). If you're in Saffron Walden and you like art, just GO! It's a sumptuous collection of pictures with lots of other interesting tit-bits...More

Not much, really. Just do your homework to check opening times, is the only obvious contribution I can make. Ravilious, Bawden, Rowntree, special exhibitions, artfully concealed down a snicket and delightfully curated and attended by volunteers. Cards and books to buy in this slightly eccentrically...More

Always interesting items on display, local and not so, but a lovely place in a beautiful town. Worth a visit.

This art collection is one of the best outside London not in a big city. It is varied, full of surprises, very welcoming and free!

Was astounded to walk in and find Ravilious hanging on the walls surrounded by other amazing artists. There is a permanent collection and a temporary exhibition. Staff very welcoming.

If visiting Saffron Walden find time to visit the Fry Art Gallery. It is tucked away down a small path between Castle Street and Bridge End Gardens and is easily missed. I had lived in the town for a couple of years before I found...More

The gallery focuses on artists from the pre-war and wartime artists colony who settled in the area, principally Bawden and Ravillious. If you're local it's one of those places that becomes an old friend, good for dropping in to see favourite pictures, especially prints, when...More
