The church was built in the early 12th century and excavations have found an even older building underneath. A graveyard surrounds the ruins. Two rune stones can be found here too. All parts are beautifully maintained. It is found right next to Mariakyrkan or St Mary’s Church.

Beautiful church ruins of St Olofs in Sigtuna. Near the main church and the graveyard. Not far from the bus station and a few minutes away from the centre of Sigtuna.

This is a quick stop on any time spent in Sigtuna. Just off the main square is the church, cemetery and the ruins of this church. The base of the walls date back to the 11th century while the bulk of what you see is from the beginning of the 12th century. Simple and small but still a lovely example of a medieval church.

The church is very important from a historical perspective. There’s not much to see, however, and there were very few signs. Best to visit on a tour so you can learn more about it.

A great piece of history! It is amazing to see these ruins and how they were built so many years ago. We were able to go inside the ruins also which was amazing! Highly recommend if you’re close to Sigtuna!

Nice ruin amongst several in the nice small-town Sigtuna. Take a walk and see the many stonecarvings from the 10-1100th.

Sigtuna is Sweden's oldest town, dating back to Erik the Victorius time (pre-1000). It's not a surprise that it has a number of ruins then. St Olof's Ruin happens to be one of them and it has a cemetery, too. It is the ruins closest to Mariakyrkan (the church) and to the Församlingsgården Munken (meeting venue connected to the parish).

I wish I can attend a guided tour of this place someday. I am already impressed with what I could see, but I imagine there are even more interesting facts to know. Yes, there are small info boards around and I have read them, but I am convinced there are more to know.

Will visit again.

I went here after 4pm and it started getting dark. The place was not crowded and it was a nice place to hang out as well. Just beware that the place closes at 5pm sharp.

For most it really is not much, but for me it was a journey back in time that I will always remember.
