We drove to Tarifa just to see the Strait of Gibraltar and the African coast. It was surprising to find out that it was so close, just ten miles across. (I wasn't a great student of geography, obviously). The views were fantastic. We were very tempted to go and see a different continent for the first time, but we didn't want to rush it. That's a whole other trip.

Driving from Cadiz to Algeciras, there is a place where you must stop – the Estrecho Belvedere. From here you get a breathtaking view over the coast of Africa. Even if you are in a hurry you should stop. At the belvedere there is a café and toilets. Enjoy!

We always stop at the Mirador on our many trips to Tarifa and this time we had friends with us, who have never been before. They were quite taken with the stunning views afforded at this stop-off and the proximity of Morocco. Worth a stop and a coffee at the cafe.

This mirador is worth a stop for the tremendous views over the Mediterranean over to Morocco and towards Gibraltar and Ceuta, especially on a clear sunny day. You get the full realisation how close Africa and Europe are

Amazing view on a busy road but the store is a rip off. It has the monopoly in that area and sure takes advantage of it

Visited during the autumn bird migration. Watching large numbers of storks & eagles migrating just above ones head is an experience not to be missed.

Terrible service. The toilets are supposed to be free for clients, which we were ,but they are outside the restaurant building, so by the time the waiter has pressed the button to open the door for you , someone else has gone in ahead of you. Necessity forced me to stay there and try with a 50 cent coin anyway but the door still wouldn't open. I called the manager to complain and he showed me not once but twice that the door opened when you put a coin in. He did not reimburse me for my lost money and made me put in more money to go in even though I had already paid for my lunch inside. I was treated like an imbecile. Do not spend your money here ! They don't deserve your custom

Breathtaking views of the Strait of Gibraltar, you can almost 'touch' Africa! Dramatic landscape all around, with flocks of birds migrating to or from south in due season. If this place were in another country in Europe, you would have to pay to have access. Here it is free. And the bar next to it is good for a bocadillo or a coffee. The waiters are nice and the food is good.

We drove to for two hours from Sevilla to "Mirador del estrecho", the road was really good, but the african continent views are priceless, we were here about 11am, and it was perfect views an weather, you have a little restaurant here, very pricey. You don't expend here more than an hour. I highly recommend it

This viewing point is worth a visit. It offers such a picturesque look over the Mediterranean and African coast. There's a little shop to buy ice cream and postcards but the view is the thing to visit for. It's top notch.
