    Fun and different!
First, you have to walk a ways until you get to the water. It is gravel and dry but keep going and you will reach the river, maybe 20 minutes of walking. Then it is beautiful! We went in the morning, about 9:30am, and very few people were there but it was much busier by the time we turned around. The water is so clear and it was not slippery at all. It was mostly ankle deep with a few spots up to our thighs. Our group was aged 27 to 55, and everyone could do it and had a great time.

    Just do it
We did the walk with our family group that ranged in ages from 5 to 70! Everybody had a great time. Well worth the effort. The right footwear is essential and you will get wet. We all bought trainers for €2 the day before - money well spent! Take plenty of water and something to eat half way up. It takes about 1.5hrs to get to the first large pools and amazing gorges/waterfalls. Turn around and walk back after that if you’ve done enough. There is nothing amazing at the end. Just a nice walk from start to finish.

    Very fun walk!
This river walk is so much fun! Wear a bathing suit or clothing that can get wet. We wore sneakers and socks which was perfect for climbing on the wet rocks. And bring lots of drinking water - the walk from the parking lot to the river is about 25 minutes in the hot sun with little shade. But the walk in the river is cool and shady. We only walked about and hour up the river and an hour back so combined with the walk to a from the parking lot it was about a 3 hour hike. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Spain and my teens loved it!

    Nice river walk
We parked in a car park, charged €1 , we then walked down the hill near the old power plant then up the dried river bed, it took us 45 mins to get to the start of the river ( we were all adults walking at a steady pace, )though it was very hot, at the start of the river you can see a dam was created. we walked up the river which was a great experience, in the shade and Cooling you down. we’re walked in the river for about 30 mins, when we seen a small waterfall on the right. Just what was needed., a lovely cool shower!! We turned back here.. I would highly recommend this walk but you need to wear runners as walking on stones in the water can be sore on the feet if you’re in the wrong shoes Bring plenty of water!!

Excelent river walk, a lot of fun and joy. Not easy, but very expressive. All family were very happy for this walk with a lot of swimming and very nice views.

The town of Nerja is far too crowded with cars everywhere.
The cave is wonderful and absolutely worth a visit. The museum closes at 4pm, which makes it impossibile to visit both the cave and the museum on a one-day trip

It's a nice downhill 8km walk from Frigiliana, down the main road until the path that cuts off the horseshoe bend then down to the valley floor path between the houses, valley floor diagonal across and up the road opposite, follow it (just don't go down any roads marked dead end) until it eventually crosses the river Chillar 200mtrs bear right down the path and then follow the river to Nerja

Unfortunately for us, the entire stream was dried up!
In January!

I never saw on any reviews that this might be the case, we got a 1hr30min bus and hour ish walk to find it like this :(

Im sure it’s great usually but could use guidance on this online somewhere

Thoroughly enjoyed the walk. I think we completed about 15km round trip. This route mainly follows a stream that you walk in. Wear old trainers/wet shoes. Take some water and snacks.

Amazing. Most of the walk is in the river so old walking/trainers shoes. Take water and snacks as this can be a long walk. Scenery is incredible. We took dry shoes to change into after we finished the walk. Definitely will do this again.
