I spent a few hours here one evening during my time in Jaen. It's open late and is free entry for students, so it was the perfect adventure for a stormy Friday night. The museum is organised chronologically according to the history of Jaen, beginning with the prehistoric geography of the area, the advent of Neolithic man and the agrarian... More

Maybe even deserve something more, as I fiound it's art display even better than the one in arabic baths. Nicely prepared exhibitions in a historic building in th center of the city. Free for visiting for people from the EU. The only minus in my opinion is the fact that all descriptions are written only in Spanish.

The Iberian sculptures in this Museum are amongst the most significant in the world. They are presently housed in a smallis room, but will be moved in the future to a purpose built Museum for Iberian Culture. The main building houses Roman and Moorish object, bronzes, stoneware, glass items and jewellery. There is also a sarcophagus discovered near Martos, depicting... More

A must for history lovers. This museum houses a fantastic collection of archaeological artifacts from the Iberian, Roman and Arab eras, a replica of an Iberian tomb found in the vicinity of Jaen, and some beautiful mosaics more than 2000 years old. There were very few people when I visited (on a Tuesday morning). It is perfect for a one... More

If your not into gloomy church's, I'm not, this makes up the trio of things to do in Jaen. Providing you took a taxi to the castle and didn't get stuck in the bar at the Banos Arabes this is worth a visit. The collection covers a lot, prehistoric artefacts by the ton. A good collection of Roman jewellery and... More

Great museum, free for EU passport holders. Archaeology section is very well represented. Also interesting paintings by not so 'world famous' artists.

As well as being an insight into the history of Jaen (which is interesting indeed) there's an impressive art gallery on the first floor. Free of charge to EU citizens too

Spent several hours in the archaeological section of the museum - the fine arts section on the upper floor of the museum is worth a miss.

The museum is free for EU residents, 1.50 euros for everyone else. There is a lot of information about everything on display, but only in Spanish. First there are rooms with prehistoric artifacts on display with signs explaining the Jaen region's history in particular. Then they transition into Roman artifacts, and finally into artifacts reflecting the Christian-Jewish-Arab history of the... More
