A beautiful little city museum, well worth a visit. Free (on Sunday, anyway), and take a headset for 1E. Full of beautiful artefacts, it explores the history of the city and its Moorish background. Closed Mondays.

Visited on a Sunday morning in August. Sundays are free admission. The museum is a delight, exhibits are well set out and display many artefacts from the Roman period, including a stunning bronze figure of a young boy 'the Ephebe of Antequera', unearthed in the fields hereabouts. The top floor is dedicated to works by the local artist Cristobal Toral,... More

The Antequera city museum is housed in two large buildings on a large square in the town center, with a statue of King Alfonso I on horseback in the middle. It is a very fine museum and offers a good impression of the history and arts of this attractive city with a population of 43,000. Antequera is a popular tourist... More

This museum is a must, especially (as for us) on a rainy day in Antequera. The archaeological exhibits are very well assembled and the artistic displays are also excellent.

At €3 entry this was an excellent visit. Recalling the local history from Roman times to modern times. Give yourself at least 2 hours to get around.

Things in glass cases, things on walls, minimum interpretation and nowhere to sit. For me the best part of the museum was the building and how the original palace has been juxtaposed with a very modern structure. It works. As for the collection, I was left cold. Sorry.

Visited here on a rainy day and was a good way to spend a couple of hours. As long as you like history, architecture and art you will find this place interesting. There are a number of signs in English but could do with more. The museum is spread over four floors but there are lifts accessing all floors so... More
