We parked and then had a steep uphill walk to view the canyon. I was originally concerned with how long it was going to take to see all the viewpoints but it probably too less than a half hour to get from the parking lot...More

This winter the walk along the river is in need of maintenance (scheduled I expect as the new shorter summer track is complete) and was slippery in parts but the river, cliff and rock formations make this a beautiful place to visits (and not so...More

There are no words to describe the beauty of Fjadrargljufur Canyon. JUST GO! I don't think you can take a bad photo. Located about an hour east of Vik (where the black sand beach is).

Visiting the canyon, which is well indicated from Road nr1, was a special experience. It was snowing and a strong wind was blowing on New Year’s Day. Yet it was a very special sight and being there just the 3 of us, made unforgettable. Mother...More

Nice canyon, very popular with tourists despite not being part of top attractions for Iceland. A good 2 kms back and forth hike but worth a visit. Spectacular views from the top.

This is a must see. The canyon is beautiful. Definitely walk the entire path. Gives a "Game of Thrones" kind of feel.

This very scenic - stunning even - canyon has been a victim of its popularity. Fortunately the Icelandic Environment Agency now has the management of the canyon, but this has meant the site was closed in April 2018 for a few months because of damage...More

We absolutely loved this hike. We went on a sunny winter day and the canyon and surrounding scenery were gorgeous. The trail is in good conditions, however it was slippery in certain spots due to ice. If you are going in the winter I really...More

A fairly gentle walk alongside this canyon with several viewpoints to look down inside and take your photos. Very attractive scenery all around too and the walk there and back takes about 90 minutes. Some slippery bits when icy but lots of underfoot grids to...More

The walk is comprised of black plastic matting over stones - not ideal for a stroller or pram. But I guess it technically can be done. You may want to think about parking at the second carpark near the top of the hill for... More
