Interesting place to visit if you in the lake myvtan area. Special volcanic effects on the ground and a lot of colors. I recommended to cover your nose. Especially next to the places when the ground seems to be smoking.

This site is worth a stop off if you are travelling on the ring road from the south to Lake Myvatn. We happened upon it after visiting Dettifoss. We didn't spend ages there as the smell of sulphur was very strong but we did have a short walk about. Good for photos but can get busy with tourists.

If you are coming from Lake Myvatn, the entrance to this place is just after you climbed up a steep curve. As the rest of Iceland goes, there is no big signage. But if you do miss it, just make a U safely and come back. From the carpark, there is again no sign. The smoke will tell you where... More

It looks very cool and is a good stop but it smells like if you put a block of sulphur in a barbecue. Be prepared.

this place was soooo cool. we didn't even plan on coming here but saw a bunch of people pulled over so we did too. i've never seen anything like it ! it felt like we were on another planet. Super windy since it was very flat but i liked that. just wear some glasses.

This was a really interesting stop along the ring road. The area is right off the parking lot and very accessible. It's not as scenic as Seltun but is more active with both bubbling mud pits and large steam vents. It was certainly worth a stop. There is no admission and no facilities.

You cannot miss the sounds and smell of sulphur in this place.A short walk from the carpark to see all the natural wonders of a geothermal area.Walk around for 45mins to see the lava holes or mudpots marked.Get up real close to the steams vents for a photo or too. Do be careful and respect the simple rules put in... More
