A visit to the Krafla Lava Fields is something that should never be missed. You feel as if you are on a different planet. There is absolutely no vegetation. The colour of Namatjall mountain is yellow and white, from the sulfur, with huge fissures emitting...More

Lots of geothermal activity to walk around. Huge lava field with plenty of hiking. We spent about an hour but could have walked much farther if time allowed. Boardwalks and paths through the lava. The lava field was huge with incredible formations. Amazing.

Well worth a visit to see and smell the earth's thermal powers at work. It is a little busy so hard to take decent pictures of the beautiful surrounding scenery, however, the bubbling mud and the thermal gases are an experience to behold.
