Off season visit

Lovely peaceful walk along the water on the 1st of March with not a soul in sight. Can't imagine what it would be like in the summer, horribly crowded, I would think!

Clean, endless beach perfect for walking, swimming and relaxing . The water is great and if you are lucky you might spot baby turtles being born!

Very large beach with plenty of wildlife eg kingfishers, other birds, butterflies and fish. This beach was not very busy, though I assume it gets busier in the season. This is a wide, very long sandy beach located a few minutes drive from Gythion.

Very Clean water known for local and tourists . it is a blue flagged beached with naturally pebbles and sand . you may get umbrellas and chairs for 5 to 9 euros and enjoy the swim and tanning all day long . couple of cafes and restaurants around serving the swimmers . A+++

Everyone in Lakonia goes to Mavrovouni, or at one time have been here. Its a staple of this area in Greece. Several beaches now have umbrellas and beach chairs to rent for very cheap rates, usually free in September. Chair side service for food and drinks too :)

Nice beach, plenty of parking or within reach of Gythieon by bike if you are lucky enough to be staying in the town. Swim from sandy beaches into gently sloping shallow water, plenty of deeper water further out if you are a keen swimmer.

Grab a beach lounge, shelter from the sun under one of the many umbrellas and enjoy. Food and drink brought to you - no need to get up except to cool off in the crystal clear water of the beach. Take sandals or thongs (flip flops) as the sand gets very, very hot.

A decent beach for everyone. Has beach bars and empty spaces in between for people with their own beach equipment. Clear water, with almost no wind and waves in the morning, but as the day passes, the waves appear. There is also a lifeguard, who raises the proper flag everyday, according to the situation of the weather and the sea.... More
