The kids were very excited about all their finds! It was really hot and there is no shade so bring sunscreen and plenty of drinks.

Going inside the cave wearing helmet was really cool. Worth to see. Amazing gems and beautiful underground views.

Sorry but I do not know of any such area. One might be able to enquire through the Idar-Oberstein web site if any mining sites exist.
