What a dreadful place. It's worth a visit to see how ordinary people can accept as normal a civilization that encourages mass murder. The rooms, the museum, the space, is so gruesome that it has to be seen to be believed.

The place is quite big and very sobering. They did a good job describing all of the locations. Mostly stroller friendly. Couldn't make it to the museum, ran out of time but everything else was very moving.

Dachau is reachable from the train station by a 10 minutes bus ride - the bus stop outside the station is in both German and English so it's quite handy if your language skills are not the best. The camp itself is something that you...More

It seems awful to rate the Dachau Concentration camp as "excellent" on Tripadvisor. I do it because I personally feel it's mandatory to remind ourselves of the follies of history, no matter where we are from geographically. Travelling in 2016 is defined by obsessive selfie...More

This was our first time visiting a concentration camp and it wasn't what we expected. We anticipated seeing a bit more. There wasn't a lot of (original) relics...lots of reproductions and only a couple building/quarters still standing. We did watch the 15 minute video about...More

The personal tours are great, but then wander by yourself after. It's a place that is perfect for solitary contemplation after a tour.
