This friendly team of ladies run their own cooperative selling gorgeous handmade clothes, jewellery and other goods. They speak English and Spanish. You can watch them weave and they'll explain the local Guatemalan dress code. In addition they run a cafe offering the local coffee, and the pretty cafe terrace on the fourth floor has fantastic views across the lake and down into the church square. Definitely worth a visit!

Hidden in Santa Catarina, this center run by a local women cooperative, offers a unique experience not found anywhere else! To get dressed up in traditional Mayan clothes! Don’t miss this opportunity. A must.
The center also has a small shop with local crafts, explanations of the different crafts and clothes that define each village, and a coffee house.
Enjoy the experience !!!! We definitely did!!!

Was advised to visit this Cultur Center ...

It was a bit tricky to get there ...
The best way is from Panajachel ... with a Tuck Tuck or with the Pickup car from the Catholic Church!
It was really successful !
The English Speaking Guide..was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting to listen to ...
In the end you got to try these incredibly beautiful clothes!
They had a small cafe ...
Have a coffee, the coffee coming from the neighborhood was roasted and ground in place ... very tasty !
You gone live this place with more knowledge about this beautiful Dresses that you had when you arrived !

Took a tuk tuk from Panajachel to check out this cute town, and read that the cultural center was a cool place to check out and had a restaurant with a nice view, which was true. Figured I would get lunch there and support this small town museum of sorts. I paid my bill with cash, and the waitress brought me back my change. I took out the money from my pocket to add my change to it, and all of a sudden she took her change back, pointed at my cash, and said "oh you already got your change". I assured her that no, this cash had been in my pocket previously, and was not the change from my bill. She said "no, no, you already got your change." We argued back and forth for a bit, but was clear that she knew she was scamming me and that I was not going to have any luck getting my change from her. It amounted to about $4 USD, but still left a bad taste in my mouth for obvious reasons - I would have left that money in the donation box at the entrance of the center if I hadn't been robbed of it. If you go, I'd recommend paying with exact change if possible.

This charming tiny room has a few staff who give explanations of the village history. The old photographs were interesting. Staff demonstrated various crafts and offered a warm corn drink. There are some small crafts for purchase. A pleasant introduction to the village.
