One can take a public bus from Valparai to reach this place. The reflections in the serene water are a sight to die for.
Early morning or evening visits should be good for photography.

If you want to go down then you have to go down 118 steps. The water is very tasty you can get water from the shop for free of cost. I never drink this much tastiest water. One tunnel is there that length is 8 km.It is full dark inside.

Initially we thought it is just the dam. When we reached we found out we have tunnel from this place to some other locations which is built through the mountains. 8km in length. Tunnel can be accessed in Jan or Feb where we don't have water at all. You can even go through the entire tunnel of 8 km :) We wanted to do for sure.
You can access the tunnel entrance and we are really excited. You can view the other end of the tunnel as a white dot and breath taking. Tunnel is completely built with concrete and so you don't need worry walking in the water inside the tunnel. The person responsible (security - local) will stay in the top and let you go down to access the tunnel. So you go inside the tunnel as far as you want but it will be dark. Sure will be adventures. He will insist you to come back in 10 mins and we spent only 15 mins.
Near the dam you have a tea stall and it is really great. You will get snacks, bajji and wonderful tea. Don miss it also you will get some traditionals snacks which is obsolete now a days in city :)
Road to this attraction might not be good. Try to come early so that you can also cover Chinnakallar falls. Chinnakallar falls closes at 4:00 PM as you have to walk for few km.
Note: when we visited water level in the tunnel from DAM is 1 and half feet and so they let us visit. If the water level is more than 2 or 3 feet you are not allowed to go. So please enquire the time to visit.

This dam is one of the only things you can do on Sirukundra road, which itself is one of the best roads to drive. Drive past Sirukundra for around 3 kms and you reach a forest check post. Rs. 30 per head to visit the dam. Drive 4 kms of horrible horrible roads on which your average speed will be less than 10 kmph. Finally after reaching the dam, you can walk around and click some pictures. There is some water in the dam. Nothing more than this.
Important note: The railings on the edge are broken, please make sure that kids are accompanied by adults at all times. The fall most probably can lead to fatality, direct into the catchment area.

The Dam is not as big a sholayar or aliyar Dam. Nevertheless don get put off. The drive is thru the wild life reserve and you ll sure will enjoy the ride. Heard from our friend this route is dangerous in the night as lot of cheetahs roam around here. Wild cats cant be sighted during the day though. Best thing about the place is the sounds of nature and Peace you get watching the Dam. Unlike thw Upper Sholayar Dam this is a place where we can sit for hours together on the onward side of the Dam watching the wayer gushing across the barricades. Its awesome. Don Miss it if you are peace lover. But can be missed if you are expecting to see more sight seeing only.

The road to the dam is simply horrible. Nice jerky drive you will experience :)
Once you reach the dam, you get to walk down to the tunnel and get a beautiful view of the flowing water. Altogether it was a good experience.
