The view is beautiful from the same corridor road & the vibrant color of the water with the mountains in the backdrop will put a smile on your face.
But avoid visiting in the afternoon times. Especially during Summers if you want to avoid getting roasted.
You can take a leisure walk in the park.
You have to pay to use mobile phones to click pictures.

The best part of the dam was the access to the catchment area by tourists to enjoy the calm and serene expanse of the waterbody and to spend time in the leisure park nearby. Used as we are to viewing dams only from the spillway side,. the view from the catchment area givers one a new perspective about dams.

Visited the reservoir last week.
★ Entry charge Rs.5/- plus Rs. 10/- for mobile phone.
★ Surrounded by lot of small roadside food shops.
★ The spot includes a garden, and play area for kids.
★ This is a good spot to spent time with kids, friends and family.
★ The dam area offers a great view to the bottom garden and the water other side.

Great stop over when you are entourage to Vālpārai from polachi. There is a small entrance fee and park and kids play area (old, not so well kept) . One can climb up the steps to reach the dam top. Unlike most other dams one can a good distance enjoying the view. Carry your hats/umbrellas as it can get sunny and rain any time. The views on either side are breathtaking and a feast for nature lovers. Can down an hour easily in this place. Please note it closes by 5 pm and the monkey falls nearby close by 4 pm as it in forest area.

Aliyar dam park is closed during October 2020 due to Covid 19 situation which means we cant go to the top the dam. there will lot of shops outside where you can get some snacks and a tea before climbing up the hills.

There will be a forest check post straight after aliyar dam towards valparai where we need to pay 30 rupees per person and 50 rupees per car. (4 person and a car means you need pay 170 rupees)

When one stays at Pollachi, there are so many view points / sights nearby. Aliyar Dam is a top priority not only for tourists, but also for pilgrims (Arivu Thirukoil nearby) and film shoot crews. For foodies, fresh dam fish is caught, fried and served hot. Spicy and full of bones and so watch out. On a cold evening, nothing like watching sunset and having fresh fish here.
