Not many other campers this time of year so the campground was quiet. We stayed three nights and hired HotDawg Guide Service to take us fishing on the river. He picked up at the dock and we caught our limit shortly. The campground is level so it was great for walking and pushing a stroller. We loved seeing so many deer grazing around!

Went there to fish and caught some huge trout, what fun to beat out the boyfriend. I have fished there before and knew I would catch some beauties. The staff in the store were very helpful.

Love this place - if have RV can be booked up a year ahead! Fave tent site 95. Water nearby - in 69 last 4 nites rv site on water. Elec / water No tent pad but flat grassy area. 80+degrees but not hot here. 25$ nite or so. Heads up one bathhouse closed. Will be putting in sewer and updating sites. Showers good water pressure and hot - very clean

We went here to get a different view of the dam and an up close view of the White River. You can walk right down to the water. Watch out for the concrete sidewalk, it can be slippery.

The staff, the site, the views - all were amazing. We were fortunate enough to have a site next to the river which enhanced the experience. If you are in this area of Arkansas and looking for a camp ground would highly recommend this site!

This is a state park in Northeast Arkansas that has a fishing focus. The fishing's GREAT! My husband caught 2 trout with his first 3 casts! There's a bait shop in between campsites right on the river. You can also rent boats there.
The campground has recently been redone, so the map isn't right on the brochure. There are campsites right by the river, but they're not ON the river. They're up on a small bluff. The view is still wonderful. I liked sites 68 & 80. The sites are pretty close together, but that's a state park for you. I did use the bathrooms & they were clean. Showers looked good too.
The dam splits the park in half, but the Bull Shoals Lake half is just so so. A playground, picnic area & the Lakeshore Trail (1 mile loop) is all that's there. The Lakeshore trail was closed while we were there.
At the visitor center there's the Heritage & Habitat Trail. .5 mile paved loop suitable for wheelchairs & strollers. It was nice & we saw deer.
The Big Bluff Trail is on the White River side. 1.75 mile loop that you can access from the campground. It was moderately strenuous, but the ankle turning rocks are what gets you on this trail! Hard to enjoy your hike. There's one view on a bluff of the white river & surrounding area.
There's also a 3 mile bike trail I didn't do. The Gaston Wildlife Garden Trail looked nice, but unkempt. We didn't walk it.
So, we spent a nice day enjoying the park. I recommend stopping if you're in the area.
