When Sam Walton opened his 5&10 on the Bentonville town square in 1950, he had no idea he'd planted the seeds for what would become the global leader in retail, saving millions of people money so they could live better. Today, that humble little dime store is the location of The Walmart Museum. A family-friendly experience in 3 parts, the Museum features a world-class exhibit gallery, Walton's 5&10, and The Spark Cafe.

I avoid Walmart like the plague but I admire Sam Walton and this museum of his rise was interesting. Allow ample time. I was time limited and would have liked to read more of the displays.

We spent three hours in this fascinating museum absorbing the genius of Sam Walton and the world's great corporation, Wal Mart. The company has a distinguished history that is worth learning. And it all started in the five and dime where you can enjoy an ice cream soda and buy an old-fashioned toy. FUN!

This was a museum all about Walmart from Sam Walton's humble beginnings to today. To get to the entry of the museum, you must pass through a replica of the original five and dime store. The museum is filled with items sold at Walmart yesteryear and today. There is a replica of SAMs office and his actual pickup truck. An... More

Great place to see how Walmart got it's start. They have Sam Walton's office fully intact as well as his old Ford truck. Love the old toys like Lincoln logs, old sodas, travel games from the 70's. Very Nostalgic and for awesome prices. They had root beer Mike and Ike's and don't forget the Ice Cream!!

The museum, itself, tells how the mega store Wal-Mart began. It also gives you a peak into the life of Sam Walton and his family. On site is a gift shop that carries items that I haven't seen in a while, such as toys from when I was a child and all kinds of taffy and other sweets. There are... More

It's worth a visit if you're in town. Fun shop at the front of the museum that has vintage candies and toys along with other Walmart memorabilia. Even better vintage style soda/ice cream shop at the end with fantastic prices. In between there is about 15-30 minutes worth of exhibits covering the history of Walmart. It's free!
