When Sam Walton opened his 5&10 on the Bentonville town square in 1950, he had no idea he'd planted the seeds for what would become the global leader in retail, saving millions of people money so they could live better. Today, that humble little dime store is the location of The Walmart Museum. A family-friendly experience in 3 parts, the Museum features a world-class exhibit gallery, Walton's 5&10, and The Spark Cafe. Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.M. - 9:00 P.M. Friday - Saturday: 8:00a.M. - 10:00P.M. Sunday: 12:00 p.M. - 9:00 P.M.

This small museum tells a big story - from one five & dime to a multi-billion dollar corporation, Sam Walton is an American Legend & probably the top Business Executive. There's a small gift shop before you enter and an ice cream soda fountain -...More

Learned a great deal about the Walton family and the beginnings of the Wal-Mart stores- it was one-sided- all favorably slanted toward Wal-Mart- but then you might expect that. Great hands on and interactive things for kids and adults, also. Shouldn't miss it, if in...More

Step back in time to the beginning of Walmart and the history of the immediate family. Sam's office is in the back. The museum is tiny and a public relations outlet for Walmart, but I enjoyed it very much.

The original Walmart store with a detailed history of Sam Walton including many of his personal items; his office, his truck. Time-line history of Walmart. Very interesting.

It's something you should do. See how Sam changed the retail landscape buy more so learn about the type of person he was. I think you would be surprised. Worth checking out and the gift shop is great too!

This is educational and interesting. Don't miss the ice cream parlor! I learned a lot about the Walton family, and found some cute things in the store, located in the front of the museum.

We didn't even know about this place. It was interesting and informative. The store and and soda shop were a big plus.

The 5 and Dime store was small but quaint. The museum had a lot of reading and information yet not much interactive displays. The truck was great. Ice cream was not creamy but had good flavor.

You can be there as long as you want -- it's free and very interesting! Be sure and make yourself a name tag with your very own bar code.

Hi Nancy C! We do not offer any bus shuttles. However, Bentonville does offer plenty of free parking around the square. There are a few parking lots, versus street parking, where a camper would fit.
