When Sam Walton opened his 5&10 on the Bentonville town square in 1950, he had no idea he'd planted the seeds for what would become the global leader in retail, saving millions of people money so they could live better. Today, that humble little dime store is the location of The Walmart Museum. A family-friendly experience in 3 parts, the Museum features a world-class exhibit gallery, Walton's 5&10, and The Spark Cafe.

If you're visiting Bentonville, you'll quickly realize you're in a company town. And that company is Wal-Mart. Set aside whatever opinions you may have about Wal-Mart and its business practices and visit the Museum. There you will learn that Sam Walton was once a small businessman himself. In a few rooms and displays, you will learn about Sam and the... More

Take a walk through Sam Walton's legacy, delightfully presented at his first five and dime store location on the Bentonville Square. Attention to detail, from the original mismatched floor tile in the gift store, because Sam insisted no one would notice if merchandise was eye level, to his trademark old Chevy truck gives visitors a true walk down memory lane.... This museum is all about the Waltons and the founding of Walmart. Small, with an old-fashioned candy store in front.

The museum, which is small, is in the old 5 and 10 Walton store. The store is a museum in itself... an old candy store full of ancient favorites like wax lips and slo pokes. We loved it! The real museum is attached and was interesting, giving the story of the Walton family and how Sam built up the business.... More

This little museum does a very good job of presenting the history of Sam Walton and his family, describes his influences, documents his goals and progress, and overall paints a detailed picture of how Walmart came to be what it is today. Definitely interesting. After you’re done, go next door to the “5 & Dime” and get an Arkansas-made ice... More

We only stayed for a short time, but it looked like a very interesting place to visit. One of the videos talks about Sam Walton as a pilot. He must have been quite a character. The displays in the museum are dimly lit, and there is a lot of history of Walmart, which may bore children quickly, however there is... More

Quite the story about Sam Walton and his rise to the top of the retail world. Museum is in the original 5&10 that he started and it traces his whole life. Quite interesting.

This is a museum dedicated to Sam Walton and how he took Walmart from a small town variety store to an international giant retailer. It has exhibits including some interactive ones that will interest anyone who has ever shopped in Walmart or who enjoys history. They have an cie cream store in front that serves great ice cones.

He stated with a little store and created one of the best companies in the US. His story is so uplifting! Loved how it was a team effort with his wife. An example to follow. This are the people and the concepts that make this nation great. Not the people always looking for a hand out.
