Canyon Lake is one of 3 lakes that were created by damming the Salt River. The vertical rocks and sparse desert plants give the illusion of being somewhere extra terrestrial. We saw mountain goats and an eagle while on the Dolly Cruise (highly recommended). Being...More

Canyon Lake Marina did me wrong today! I should not be treated that way. I rented a fishing boat for an hour for $25 and after 20 minutes we turned off the motor and went to go fishing. The boat never started back up and...More

There is a dam on the Salt River which creates the Canyon Lake. It is best explored by boat to really take it in. There are several lookouts to enjoy the beauty of the cliffs. We rode the Dolly Steamboat to get the lovely views...More

The ninety minute cruise was very relaxing and the scenery is beautiful. The tour guide was very good at pointing out notable formations in the rock walls and adding details on the history, flora and fauna through the cruise. We did see some bald eagles...More

What a gorgeous view among the sharp cliffs. A must on SR88 in the Tonto State Park. Looks like this could be a fabulous boating/camping destination but today was just a drive by!

Canyon lake is a piece of beauty on the Arizona Desert. Take a cruise on one of the Cruise ships. We used the Dolly line and it was very nice. The views are fantastic. The cliffs are shear straight up for 500 feet. Some of...More

Would like to have camped here as the scenery is so pristine, but we were traveling thru to Tortilla Flat. From the lady at the restaurant I understand the lake is stocked with small and large mouth bass, catfish, walleye and trout. The small mountains...More

We were in Phoenix for baseball spring training. For a non-baseball day, we headed out to Canyon Lake and took the boat tour around the lake. It's a beautiful area, and the tour around the lake was great. The people running the boat tour did...More

Yes it is. There is a marina with docks and a boat launch. There is also some shore line but don't know if you have to pay to use the shore line or if it is for free public use.

NO - don't take the chance and just show up! That is what we did and we almost did not make it on! They only had 5 tickets left and I was lucky enough to get two. All the other people had reservations.
