We knew from our very first class, Santa Cruz Spanish School was exactly what we'd been looking for. The entire staff has it all going for them. Magda especially is such an attentive and approachable teacher. We are on the same page and we just love her! Plus all of her great material adds that much more to our educational... More

I've studied Spanish in a number of schools but this was the best. The teacher was dedicated, the setting beautiful, the food prepared by the chef, Don Domingo, so good. I was here for the month of August and it was nice and cool, like Springtime. It rained some but only for part of the day or at night, mostly... More

The school is very good, and can cater to people who want to learn Spanish on a long term or short term basis. Magda is a very good teacher and you are able to get great conversations going with her which enables learning lots of new vocabulary. It's in a very peaceful location, which allows you the perfect setting to... More

Learning Spanish has always been on my "bucket list" and I was very satified with my experience at the Santa Cruz Spanish School. First of all, Guatemala is the perfect country to learn Spanish as a beginner because (as it was explained to me) the indigenous people speak Mayan as a primary language, with Spanish as their second language. Therefore,... More

I had a great teacher - Dolores - who was incredibly patient and very professional. She followed a plan and in two weeks I got a great basis for grammatical structure, past present and future tense and lots of conversational practise. Be warned - the lessons are totally in Spanish, so the few weeks I did beforehand on Duolingo held... More

My wife and I came to his school our second week in Guatemala after studying a first week in Xela. Let me say, the teachers here are excellent and all the staff are so kind! I worked with Pedro, and he is very professional patient. He speaks slowly and clearly as you learn to listen and will break his sentences... More

I spent one week with the Santa Cruz Spanish School and LOVED every minute of it. Wish I had been able to have more time. I took classes with Lidia, who was so kind and patient and such a great teacher. Lidia shared local life and history with me as well as teaching me Spanish language skills that I hope... More

I booked this school based on Trip Advisors recommendations. I must say that my experience was very far from these great recommendations, so much so that I decided to pull out after 24 hours. Fortunately I managed to find an alternative in Panajachel which was fantastic. At least something great came out of the experience.

I did 2 weeks of spanish lessons at the Santa Cruz Spanish School in August and I would highly recommend it. Pedro who arranges everything is incredibly well organised, flexible and friendly. My teacher was excellent and tailored each lesson to my specific requirements. It was much better value for money than the schools in San Pedro and as it... More

I took a week of Spanish classes here in July. The "classroom" is a beautiful garden on the shore of the lake where you can learn while seeing volcanoes in the background. The one-on-one instruction is great and is a good value for your money. The staff is very accomodating and will try to help you with anything you need.... More
