It was amazing, the views, the nature and the atmosphere.
I went by my own and it was go and safe.
The only problem was that the trail is not clear in some places so it was not so easy sometimes.
The best and safe ( because of the tide) is to go on the trail in the morning.
It’s combination of trail, nature, sea & swimming.

This trail can be very hot, so bring lots of water. There are multiple beaches you can stop on. The path can be wet, muddy, sandy, full of horse poop. Suggest wearing waterproof hiking boots or hiking sandals. The path can be very hot. We did see many animals such as macaws, vultures, capuchin monkeys.

This walk is abundant with all kinds of wild life and rainforest. Only thing is there were a few points which could have been better signposted.... watch out for that. Loved it.

Nice trail in the nature with different landscapes and animals. Lot of shadows but also nice small beaches over the trail. No toilet or restaurants for some km.
100% reccomended!

One of our favourite days on our recent trip to Costa Rica, the trail is just stunning. Beautiful jungle and stunning beaches. After a fast paced day hiking around the Sirena and San Pedrillo stations in Corcovado we absolutely loved taking it slow and taking in all the beauty on this trail. We took way longer than the suggested time, more like 4.5 hours but we did make a short pitstop for a drink too. Annoyingly we didn't quite make it to Playa San Josecito, I reckon from the map we were only 5-10mins away but the trail became unclear so it was time to call it a day in the heat when we still had a long walk back. We saw toucans, macaws, monkeys, lots of cool iguanas and lizards and a sloth! We stopped both ways at Corcovado adventures to grab a drink and go to the toilet and it was here we spotted a sloth high in the trees behind it and a cool spider. Would highly recommend the walk, it's so beautiful and full of wildlife. Lots of cool hanging bridges and beautiful beaches to stop at too.

This is a beautiful hike through varied landscape and past many secluded beaches. We found the water to be a bit rough for swimming and also too warm (in March). The climate was also very hot and muggy and that prevented us from going as far as we would have liked. I guess that you could get to San Josecito beach in 2 - 3 hours in cooler weather, but in that heat it was going to take us a lot longer and we were going to die of the heat! Take lots of water and electrolytes with you. We did pass the occasional place that possibly had refreshments and possibly had a toilet, but for the most part, you are on your own.

Hiked about 20 minutes past Cocalito and then turned back to there because it was the best one. Soft sand and big but not too big waves to play in. We had been to San Josecito as part of the snorkel tour the day before and knew it wasn’t worth walking back.

Went from boat drop off at playa San Josecito back toward Drake bay. One beach after another, most empty or just a few other humans soaking up the sun and lovely blue water. We loved poking through the tidal pools, lots of critters, and a troop of capuchin.

People say this hike takes about 2,5 - 3 hours per direction. If you take in the beautiful nature along the way, I agree. For me it was getting dark on the way back so I didn't really take my time, but still didn't hurry. It took me only about two hours. But the reason I was running late was because on my way to the last beach I stopped so many times and enjoyed my surroundings! Monkeys, birds, trees, palm trees and one beach more beautiful than the other. Once I had passed the first bit where still some accommodations are, I hardly met any other person. This might be due to the decline in tourism during Covid.
All together an awesome and also cheap way to enjoy the nature of coastal Costa Rica. If you are fit enough, take the time to enjoy this hike!

I did the entire 20km from Drake Pura Vida hostel to San Jocito Beach and back.

PROs: free
CONs: in-and-out trail, not much to see, little animals (unlike Manuel Antonio), only one distance marker at the beginning, no stops/shops/toilets passed Cocalito Beach
