This is possibly the most beautiful, swimmable beach I have ever been to. Totally woth the hike from Drake Bay.
Careful on the sand - it is incedibly hot!

This is a nice little beach. You can snorkel but don’t expect to see much. Good for a swim because it is protected by rock formations. You can catch a cooperative boat from Drake Bay or hike 2-2.5 hrs.
Do NOT use Osa Great Adventures as your outfitter. There was confusion, finger pointing, don’t know what happened to your picnic lunch that we said that we would provided, waited 2 hrs for boat pick up (would have been faster and better to just catch a boat because several come and go around mid-day), plus Osa Great Adventures demanded $1000+(cash preferred) about half/way through our vacation. We did not pay them.

This beach has water that are clearer than the ones in Bahamas, Maldives, many South Pacific and Mediterranean beaches renowned for blue clear water. The catch is that getting here is very difficult.

Probably the safest beach south of town about 2 hrs. walk. There is a natural rock out crop that break most of the waves. We did experience some jellies to the far right near the rocks Two people got stung. Stay in the middle and visit early, cause it's a really popular spot for the tour boats to bring clients for lunch from 12- 2 pm.
Not a bad play to snorkel either so bring goggles at least. This is a good place for a picnic lunch too except there are no trash cans so plan to pack it all out.

Excellent 2.5hr walk from drake. Lots of wildlife to see, howler & capuchin monkeys, lots of birdlife. We also saw coati & turtles in the sea.
Best to go over low tide as you can walk across the rio claro. Otherwise pay the $2 each & get the turtle sanctuary to take you across in a sml boat. Thing is, the trail is quite treacherous & not obvious as to where to go. It's quite a climb down to where you blow the whistle for the boat.
We intended to get a boat back but at $60 we chose to walk back also.
All the snorkel boats from cano Island stop here for lunch but it's not easy to get on one of these as they are normally full.
It is possible to hire a boat at drake, 4pers is $60 each way.
Their are reviews on here saying the trip back by boat is $10, really??
It's a nice beach but not worth that money. The walk is fantastic.

Very quiet, secluded beach. My partner and I had this spot to ourselves for hours without seeing another soul. There are rocks that shelter the beach from waves, so it's a great spot to swim and snorkel.

We came here as part of a snorkeling trip to Caño Island. The beach was very pretty and there were lots of shady spots to sit including a couple picnic tables. The problem was the sand was very rough-not sure if other reviewers are actually talking about the same beach, but the sand was really uncomfortable even when you were in water. And we were there at low tide. Also-I had read that you could hike to this beach and hitch a ride back on one of the snorkeling boats. Judging by how full the boats were in general when we were there, it’s probably best to make arrangements ahead of time if you don’t want to walk both ways.

Soft sand, beautiful water, lovely stretch of beach, worth a special trip to see it! We also saw macaws there.

We hiked here from the Jaguars Jungle Lodge. The hike was gorgeous. About 2 hours one way. We brought snorkel gear and snorkeled in the bay!

I hiked the Drake trail and one beach was more beautiful than the others. People told me, San Josecito was the best beach out of them so of course I was hyped to see an even more beautiful more. Maybe my expectations were to high, but when I got there I was disappointed. It is a nice beach, but to me several of the other beaches along the way were much nicer.
Also I was shocked at how many big groups were gathered without any Covid measures. This really made me feel uncomfortable during my short time at the beach. Luckily it is a big beach so I could still find a quiet spot away from the others. But still I didn't spent a lot of time here and retreated to one of the earlier beaches after like 15 minutes.
