We went to go to the beach for the day, but it ended up raining us out. Thunder and lightening was pretty impressive to watch. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, even in the rain! Monkeys and sloths and...More
The trip out to the falls was beautiful the lunch that was served was amazing. I would recommend this excursion during the dry season. Was out there when it was raining and it was difficult to enjoy the falls. As a side note if using...More
Nauyaca Waterfalls are well worth the visit. Whether it is easy of difficult to get there depends on your wallet. Options:
1. Leave your car at the office and walk in 6 km. ($8 per person). The first 2 km is downhill, which means when...More
We went there as a family trip. The visit to the falls was the main reason to be in the area. We wanted to do the walk but got scared about the reviews. I think we could do it by walking but of course is...More
The hike to the waterfalls is not particularly long, but it does get steep & tiring at points, but once you get to the waterfalls themselves, all the effort becomes more than worth it! They're gorgeous, and a refreshing dip in the pools is particularly...More
We opted to take the truck ride up to the waterfall instead of horseback or hiking and were very glad we did!! Though very bumpy, I don't think we would have made it otherwise (we're older) and felt sorry for the people who arrived after...More
Take the truck to the top! Well worth it imo, the trail is steep, & can be muddy & hot...all things that tend to take away from experiences....the truck ride eliminates all that so you can just enjoy the beautiful scenery up the hill and...More
We did the truck ride there. Takes about 25 minutes in an open air truck with seating on both sides. The views just getting there over the valleys and the mountains beyond we're spectacular. Even saw deer and other local animals on the truck ride....More
Our son made the hike up to the waterfalls and suggest we take the truck. That was the best $28.00 per person that I have ever spent. We had a blast riding in the back of the truck and got to the falls refreshed and...More

This isn't a park. It is private property. I wasn't there but from what locals say it was a fall. First accident in many years at this waterfalls and there are people there every day. It is always so tragic when someone loses their life in an accident. Costa Rica is a country where when you take risks you are responsible for the outcomes - it isn't the US where you can sue someone. The ride to the falls is booked in advanced and guided - but if you want to walk you just go whenever you want. The ride is fairly is easy and the horses experienced or you can walk the road to the falls. The falls are very slippery rocks and it would be easy to fall. Lots of people climb up the falls - as high as they feel comfortable - and they jump into the water. Only do that if you know what you are doing - as is true everywhere - rocks and waterfalls are dangerous.
I'm sorry but I really don't know - check out their website or email or ring ahead I would suggest. I doubt you can take it if you want to do the riding trip but if walking or going on the 4x4 it may be possible...

I did not go in on horseback, but my understanding is that there is only one. It is located at the entrance to the area by the falls. You need to make reservations at least 1 day in advance. There is a building on the road where you buy your entry tickets as you go in. I believe that is where you also make reservations. Sorry, I do not know the specific name.
