The tour of glen Canyon dam was better than the tour at Hoover dam. I'm a dam fanatic, so this was an absolute must see for me. I have been to Hoover dam also. I actually enjoyed glen Canyon dam more. They take you down into the dam and powerhouse. The turbines are MASSIVE. This would be a great activity... More

If you're just driving through and don't know exactly when you'll get to the dam, it is hard to plan for the tour (which you can book on-line). Unfortunately, the tours were full when we arrive, so we were limited to walking through the visitor center (which is partially closed while it is being refurbished), and across the bridge to... An impressive place and if you are visiting Lake Powell / Page you should stop there and take a look. Don't forget to go over the bridge by foot

First was told there were no more 1:30 slots then a second look showed 2 people went on earlier tour. I was first told no openings until the last tour at 3:30. Sometimes you get lucky. We were told that the lower dam part of the tour just started two weeks ago. There are 8 turbines and one was disassembled... More

The Dam & the visitors center are well worth a visit. But please, when you go, question whether the dam should have ever been built, think about the myriad shortcomings of theColorado Compact that allocates water (& more water than usually flows annually) to the states on the River, and imagine how beautiful the (submerged) hundreds of miles of Glen... Spent three days on visits around the dam, starting at the Carl Hayden visitor center watching the three movies, taking the dam tour, next day doing the Lake Powell boat tour and visiting the dam on the lake side and viewing from the water. Third day we took a float boat trip and that started at the very base of... More

Nice little tour. The gentleman who gave us the tour had worked there most of his life as an engineer. You can only tour the top of the dam due to construction of the elevator. Some interesting films also. Good place to stop.

Went with our grandchildren. We all enjoyed it and it is a nice quick break in our travel from Utah to the Grand Canyon. We really enjoyed the movie. If you're ready for a break make this one of your stops. It's just outside of Page, AZ.
