- NorchristoOslo, Norway166 contributionsFree a turtle - release a baby turtle in the wild. A cool experienceRelease a week old turtle in the wild. Important center that help the only 7 specimens of the world sea turtles alive. You learn about the challenges the turtles meet and see an area with eggs in sand and lots of very sweet youngsters ready for a life in the oceans. For 250.000 you can adopt tour own turtle, go in rescue car and boat and actually set the turtle free. Cool, although the boat man stopped in the middle of a busy boat traffic area - and that did not really increase the option of my turtle (called Kjell-Pett-Erik).Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 19 October 2023

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, informative and passionate about the sea turtles. The work being done here is wonderful. A reminder to arrange transport here and back. Taxis may be hard to come by.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 November 2023
- Joaquina S1 contributionFeeding turtlesAmazing place!! I didn't know Indonesia has so many species of turtles. Ocha and Rija told me everything about them and where very nice answering all the questions. Tour guidance in english. Best part, when I fed the turtles ☺️💪 Thank you very much!Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 9 January 2024
- scarlett s2 contributionsCannot rave enough about this placeSuch an amazing sanctuary. You can tell the turtles are so well cared for and relaxed. All turtles of different species and sizes. There is no entry fee but definitely make sure to donate! So happy there are places like this that actually nurture these creatures. They are rescued from pollution , fishing nets and the black market and brought here for rehabilitation. We spent about an hour here and just loved it. Thankyou🩷🩷Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 April 2024
- Trevor H2 contributionsAdopt a turtleThe children were so happy to see so many different turtles and other animals. The guide was very good with her explanations. She was a bit pushy asking for a tip which we would have given anyway. The girls were excited to adopt two baby turtles and release them into the sea.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 June 2024
- Janelle V28 contributionsFeel good experienceWasn't too sure what to expect, but it was well worth a visit. Free entry and a guide assigned to you on arrival. He explained many turtles are rescues, either from fishing net or propeller damage. There are turtles also confiscated from black market activity. There is a hatching area and you can adopt a week old baby turtle and release it back into the sea at a cost of $25. You are transferred by car to the port and taken on a short boat ride out to sea to release the turtle. A must for families or anyone wanting to help the environment. All proceeds go back into saving the turtles.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 June 2024
- Donna OBrahma Lodge, Australia22 contributionsTurtle release in Bali.We went to turtle conservation and education centre. Had a short tutorial from a couple of the team working there. Well versed on the subject matter. The turtles were all ages and rescue situations. It cost $25 donation per turtle released and it was worth every penny. Made you want to cry with joy. Boat ride out to a safe release area. You can even buy souvenirs but for the great work they are doing it’s worth it.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 June 2024
- Susie C9 contributionsEthical, educational turtle conservation with adopt and release opportunity! What an amazing place. The guides are passionate about saving turtles and keeping their rehab living conditions the best they can be before returning them to their natural habitat when the vet says it’s time! We adopted 3day old turtles and took the boat ride and released them into the sea. The cost of adoptions and donations keep the place running so I’d encourage anyone visiting to donate generously and experience the feel good factor of increasing the wild sea turtle population :-) loved it and it is an experience my 7 and 9 year olds will be talking about for years to come 💕Thank you SO MUCH trip advisor for the reviews that made us cancel “Turtle Island” and to come here :-) thank you to the conservation team for being so knowledgable and engaging :-)Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 June 2024
- Emily H48 contributionsGreat learning experience but fun to see turtle swim!We really enjoyed this place, our guide was a French student volunteer who was easy to understand and gave my teenage daughter and I good background on turtle species and the work of this centre. It’s a tourist attraction but not a swanky shiny one, it feels like it’s not ripping you off because it’s free to enter, you just pay if you want to release a baby turtle (we did - 250k rph) for this you get taken on a minibus, 5 min ride and then a 30 minute round trip boat ride in harbour so not choppy. If tourists don’t come the baby turtles just get realised anyway after ten days. The tanks weren’t huge but it’s a not a huge space and most of the bigger turtles are poorly hence being there. It felt like a honest operation, with people who really care.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2024
- Blake SevenLondon, United Kingdom167 contributionsReally great for the familyWe took the children for a quick visit and just made a release. Well organised, if you want to pay to release it’s a very quick bus (5 mins) and a quick boat journey to release your adopted turtles. We loved it and the centre was very helpful, it’s not a theme park and seems to be a legitimate conservation project. Note, make sure you arrive no later than 2pm if you want to release.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 August 2024

Great visit to see a variety and sizes turtles. It took under 1 hour to get and educational tour so not too exhausting for a little one. You could feed turtles with lettuce. For $15000 rupee you could adopt a turtle and send it out. They were supposed to send out to my whatapps the video of our turtles release to the ocean. However I didnt receive it and I'm sure it was some sort excuse like they got my number wrong or something.

What an amazing project. I got a private guided tour and was able to see nests and today's hatchlings. I released 2 of yesterday's hatchlings into the nursery tank for their maiden swim and then sponsored 2 turtles and went on a boat to a beach to release them.
This project do brilliant work rehabilitating turtles who have eaten plastic, got tangled in nets and been poached for the black market. I was there about 90 minutes. It's free to get in and around £14 to sponsor a turtle and release it. An absolute joy, I highly recommend for anyone with a love for wildlife ❤

If you have as your goal to “do” a turtle from the boat into the sea it is a nice thing. Otherwise you think I can look at turtles better in regulated zoos. A Schildi Costs 230k for each one accompanied it costs80 k on top. D.h. 5 persons 3 Schildis =850 k around 50€.
The fun lasts around 1 h of which around 45 minutes car to the port and then out by boat and the same back again. The facility is manageable and complete to see in 30 min (various pools with turtles; much larger have very little space and are only with water in the pool is better in any zoo)
We then felt the worst about the options to get away from there.
Taximaffia is doing quite well. No normal prices but rather 3 times. Plus flimsy reasons why you have to do this and that it would be fair.
Grab unfortunately did not go no driver drives there for the recording.
However, the “facility is free” becomes quite price intensive over the turtle sponsorship and the taxi topic in total (relative to the duration)
My kids loved putting it in the water, for the experience there would be 5 stars the facility itself gets 3 and the taxi 0
With that, I give a total of 5.

We had a lovely experience at this place.
We got to see lots of turtles that they were taking care of. We also released baby turtles into the sea, which we ‘adopted’ for a fee.
I’m always nervous if these places are genuinely taking care of animals or just using them to make money. However this place was free to enter and they were not pushy in any way for donations, or to adopt the turtles. It felt like a really genuine place that was doing its bit to look after these animals.
Really nice experience picking the baby turtles and then careful taking them out to sea on their boat. The kids really liked it and it was very cute.

Saw the terrible reviews of this place and tried to avoid it, accidentally ended up there as it appears under different names when you look for turtle sanctuaries. Very little money goes towards the turtles it seems, tanks are small and smell. Turtles had a red blush around their fins and necks, signs of illness and probably infection. I'm not sure if the staff truly care about the animals and are just doing the best they can. Also they con you into getting a boat there when it can easily be driven to

Fantastic work happening at this centre. We were shown around by two friendly volunteers who explained how the centre worked and how they looked after the turtles. There were many tanks with turtles either recovering ready to be released or injured turtles being cared for and nursed back to health. The facility was clean and well maintained. There is no entry fee but a donation is well received. Very well worth a visit.

The centre and staff really dedicate to the conservation of turtles. Unlike many other places, they do not charge an entrance fee. They fund the place by offering turtles for adoption, where you name a turtle and they release it for you - adoption is completely optional and they do not pressure you in handing over money.
While there is a pool with a few larger turtles that ‘look sad’, the staff explain that those turtles were rescued and are missing limbs or have a broken shell, and therefore cannot be released into the sea. Don’t jump to conclusions, these guys do great work!

Interesting to talk to the people involved in saving the Balinese turtle population! Free entrance and free contribution. We met some really motivated people and they make you enthusiastic to support their initiative. Although quite small, it was a great experience!

Guten Tag!

How far drive from nusa dua to the turtle centre?
Written 30 December 2019
It's about half an hour. If you don't have your own car, suggest you hire a driver for a half day rather than take a taxi, as you will need to have it wait since there are no passing taxis in that area. You could spend some time in nearby Sanur

You can go anytime during the day, they are open every day. Better to go in the morning, early afternoon and not leave it for late otherwise you will be in a hurry and don't have time to go around.

Hello. Can we just turn up and adopt a turtle and set free into the ocean? What days and times are they open? Do you have a contact email? - I’ve tried the form on website but doesn’t work.
Thanks!
Written 1 October 2018
The turtles are released depending on when the eggs hatch and therefore there is no set day. When it does happen they will make an announcement on Kuta beach at about 4 or 5 pm which can be heard from a distance. You go to the Bali Sea Turtle Society site opposite the beach, pay and get a turtle in a container to release. When everyone has their turtle they proceed down to the water, line up and let the turtles go under supervision. This can all take a bit of time as they are quite disorganised but worth the experience. Look at the Bali Sea Turtle Society FaceBook page for the latest, if you are in Kuta though just pop in and ask them. If you walk to the beach via Kuta Market turn right before you hit the sand and walk along the path and you will find the Turtle Society on your right.
