A large and largely open area of heathland and peat bogs with a number of ponds. Many rare species to be found and the boardwalk near the moat pond makes the dragonflies very acessible in the right season.

Simple really, very nice place it seems in the summer. Take a picnic (couldn’t find a table by the Moat Lake) and enjoy the dragonflys and other sights. It is the big outdoors make your own fun with free parking and nice trails.

Looks like someone has tried, but trails lack coverage; leaving the carpark the heath trail is marked but not the Dragonfly trial? Well worth a visit, for a great heath walk!

Visited here for the first time. Popped to the Three Horseshoes first, where we had a great lunch and it filled us up nicely for our walk. We had to ask in the pub where to go as it wasn’t very clear - it could...More

Before visiting the pub we had a good walk here. Maps are needed as signs are not the best. A large area to explore

We had a fantastic time walking along the paths trying to spot newts and other wildlife. We found a lovely place for a picnic and spent a couple of hours exploring the area.

Whilst I expect most people will enjoy the walks on the boardwalks and heath land and on a sunny day I imagine it's a great place. My one concern is that it doesn't seem to cater for elderly people or people with walking problems. I...More

Alerted to to this lovely place by a relative, it's a large area of heathland with ponds etc, plenty of wildlife, and criss crossed by a number of paths including an extensive boardwalk. Good place to take the kids to look for dragonflies, lizards etc,...More

Lovely walks under a wide open sky. Loads of birds including some rare ones. Lots of very well built and maintained boardwalks over marshy areas. Highly recommended for nature lovers, dog walkers and horse riders alike.

Hi Dogs are allowed. The boardwalk doesn't run very far and there is uneven / sandy soft pathway which you need to go along to get to the boardwalk. It wouldn't be impossible but it would be quite hard going I would... More
