What is there not to like about Cathedral Rock? The topography appears to be forever changing with the light; with glorious shades of red, orange and green. Toss in a clear blue sky and it's magical. There are many trail heads for different levels of ability. The tourist office was very helpful and informative, and provided trail maps. Parking is premium,... More

Beautiful area. We went early and did about 1/2 way up of cathedral rock. I wasn't sure if it was an up and over or up and back same way and no one hiking at the time had been there before. We ended up taking time to do the templeton trails while we were there and all of it was... More

We made this hike/climb with our 8 year old daughter. Probably ok for ages 6-65 if in reasonably good condition. A couple of sections are very steep, but there are good places for holding on. See attached picture of the steepest part. The views at the end is worth the hike (picture also attached).

We met one of the park hosts who filled us in on the history of the place. His enthusiasm was contagious, and we enjoyed talking with him. Extra beautiful at dusk!

We were driving around looking for a trail into the cathdral rock area. A very frieldly local directed us to the trailhead off of red rock crossing which was a dirt road off of verde valley school rd. We started off at oak creek and from the river looked up at a spectacular view of cathedral rock. We took a... More

Park at the lot at the end of Verde Valley School Rd in the Village of Oak Creek. Take the Templeton trail and follow past the creek to the end. The trail then climbs up to the base of Cathedral. The views are terrific!

On our way to Grand Canyon we stayed to take pictures of this awe inspiring view. It was a clear day in the low 70's and perfect for hiking. We did not hike but will do it next time. A great place to take endless pictures of a breathtaking view.

Amazing views of the surrounding red rock cliffs. First two thirds of the climb is moderately difficult. Last third is very challenging. Perhaps the best short hike and climb in Sedona.

We were in Sedona two years ago and did not hike Cathedral Rock...and really regretted it. BUT, this time around we took advantage and hiked (or shall I say "rock climbed") up to the end of the trail...and even beyond a bit. We had hiking shoes and took adequate water. I'm guessing that it took our family of five around... More
