Our first time hiking here and I have not hiked in years. I am not in a decent shape either. I bought hiking shoes, armed with my camera and hydration backpack. First the bathrooms are an eyesore. Not to go into much detail but think porta potty but inside a small building. There is no sink so bring hand soap.... More

Lacks great open views but it's always cooler than hiking in the open and the little canyon is so beautiful. Lots of interesting birds too. Follow the west fork of Oak Creek for about 3 miles - you cross the stream a few times so wading shoes work the best. Parking (fee) and toilets are located at the beginning of... More

Recently hiked the trail with my family of five. I absolutely loved this trail and most especially crossing Oak Creek 12 times. Only down side is it is sandy and quite dusty so beware if you have allergies.

Wear old, good grip canvas shoes and walk right up the stream. Spectacular wildlife and canyon walls. Bring walking stick to help in slippery areas of stream. Or walk along above the stream. Take in abandoned 19th century pioneer homesites and fruit orchards. Kids have a ball here. Wear swim trunks as there are some pools you may swim in.

This is one of the prettiest trails to hike in Arizona, located in the Oak Creek Canyon north of Sedona on highway 89A. It is almost to the end before you begin to climb out toward Flagstaff. You will have a elevation gain from about 4200 in Sedona to 6000 where the trail begins. Length of trail is 6.1 miles... More

This trail is not strenuous and travels over several different creek sites. It is very popular because it is not difficult and winds through gorgeous countryside with great rocks and creek pools to enjoy. Very picturesque

Even though the trailhead is located up Hwy 17, it is well worth it. We spent the day and packed a lunch and plenty of water. The hike is beautiful and very shaded and much cooler as it runs along the creek. We crossed the creek quite a few times and reached the end where we had a picnic lunch.... More

We paid our $10 parking fee shortly after the gates opened at 9. (Why so late?) There was some light rain. The trail was well maintained. Unfortunately, it was wall-to-wall people talking, talking and talking. There was no wildlife. There was NO wilderness experience. After about a mile, we were so disgusted that we turned around and went back. We... More

We had a great time hiking the West Fork trail while on our trip to Sedona. It was a great trail for a warm summer day due to its tree cover, minimal elevation change, and being right on the creek! One issue we faced was the parking lot being full when we arrived but we waited with the park attendants... More

THe parking fee is $10 and you may have to wait a little but it's totally worth. Great to do with kids and amazing picture possibilities.
