About
Red Rock State Park is a 286 acre nature preserve and environmental education center with stunning scenery. Trails throughout the park wind through manzanita and juniper to reach the rich banks of Oak Creek. Green meadows are framed by native vegetation and hills of red rock. The creek meanders through the park, creating a diverse riparian habitat abounding with plants and wildlife. This riparian habitat provides the setting and the opportunity for the park to offer a focus on environmental education. Red Rock offers a variety of special programs for school groups and private groups. There are a number of daily and weekly park events. The park offers a visitors center, classroom, theater, park store, ramada and hiking trails.

    Beautiful place
Visited twice during our visit to Sedona. On Wednesday took a nature walk with Charlotte a volunteer who had loads of knowledge & information for the group. The walk was flat and an 87-year-old man with a cane kept right up with the group. Saw a petroglyph on one of the red rocks. After the nature walk, we went hiking on several trails. Beautiful view (Apache Fire House, Javelina and another trail). Saturday, we met with two rangers who lead a birding walk. Started right at the Miller Visitor Center where there was a bird feeding area. Saw Anna's Hummingbird, Ladderback Woodpecker, and others. The walk was very informative. Continued on by ourselves when it was finished up the Eagles Nest trail. A little muddy and some ice in places but certainly passable. Wear hiking shoes not sneakers. $7.00 entrance fee per person. Nice presentation area and a theater. Clean restrooms.

    Sedona Week In April
Beautiful place Unbelievable hikes and scenery. We rented a home through AirBNB. Expensive but shared with a friend couple. The scene is heavily popular..so be aware slow traffic and somewhat crowded trails. If driving in bring plenty of food it is a bit expensive due to high demand. We also drove to Grand Canyon , Meteor Crater, Petrified Forest and Montezuma Castle. All within a two hour radius of Sedona. All in all a great trip. Just have to be patient it’s a extremely popular place to spend a week. But we’ll worth the views and hiking!!

    Spring break 23
Hiking to Bell Rock was the highlight of our stay in Sedona. The scenery was breathtaking and there were trails for every level of hiking. We also rented ATVs and the Oak Creek canyon area was stunning as well. Highly recommend a day for each.

    Comfortable, Scenic Afternoon
We had over hiked a couple days while in the Sedona area. We were told that Red Rock State Park had some very good, scenic, relatively easy hikes, so we decided to try it. It made for a good, relaxing day, without a lot of muscle strain. The trails were easy to follow, the scenery was very good, and we just outright enjoyed it.

    Great option in Sedona
With only a day to spend in Sedona, we were confused over all the hiking options. We decided to start at Red Rock State Park. Great decision! There were numerous, well-marked hiking trails, many with spectacular views. We also happened upon a guided nature walk which was instructive. Plus there was a visitors center with lots of information. And it was not crowded. Worth the $7 per person entrance fee.

    Getting Lost with GPS
If you can find it, GPS takes you to a dirt road that ends with a sign "GPS is wrong-private road". Had to get directions and get a paper map. The park does not honor a "red rocks" pass so you have to pay $7 per person. The trails can be confusing as the names change. The scenery is OK but nothing to go back to.

Easy hike pays off with magnificent views
Great hiking area for any fitness level. There are several interlocking trails that very in length. We hike the outer loop of all the trails which was about 5.5-miles. We hiked Bunkhouse to Kiva to Eagles Nest to Coyote Ridge to Apache Fire to Javalina to East Gate and back to Bunkhouse. As you can imagine the trail segments are short and you can access the trails for shorter hikes. The only strenuous part of the loop was going up the back side of Eagles Nest but there are plenty of switchbacks with 300-ft of elevation gain. Great vistas of Cathedral Rock, Three Sisters, and many more rock formations. We saw several mule deer on the hike, stopped and ate lunch enjoying the views of the mountain range, and met only a handful of other hikers on the trail. Gates open at 0800.

    The Rangers are so kind!
Me and my friend walked three short trails and saw so much beauty from the rock formations to the river we walked along. The rangers helped identify a lizard I took a photo of and thought me how to recognize it. I appreciated that fully🫶🏼 we also loved all the information that was posted on the trails!

    Red Rocks State Park
Honestly it’s nothing amazing if you have done some other hikes. If you are limited on time I would NOT go here. If you have done hikes like Broken Arrow this is really bland and uneventful. There are much better places to visit and see.

The guide tour was interesting and informative. The hike was easy as it was on paved paths and crushed stone by the river. The views while walking were lovely. The quiet and nature experience was wonderful.

The trails are that difficult and long. If you want more hiking, you can do them all. The entrance to the park is 7 p.p. And the visit center is more like a education center which is okay.
