The Calvin Charles Gallery has a collection of Contemporary art from the US, Europe and Asian artists. The Gallery is a nice stop to browse and take in the art.

Browse this spacious glass-walled gallery to experience sculptures, unique wall coverings, excellent oil, acrylic and other hangings and to discuss art with the knowledgeable professional staff. It is on the free trolley route (or walk) just north of Indian School Rd in the NE corner of 3rd Ave and Marshall Way. This is south of the famous roundabout with the horse statues on 5th Avenue. If you parked in the 3rd Avenue garage it is to the west 1.5 blocks.

My wife and I visited this gallery on the last Thursday of September 2014 during their weekly Art Walk. This is an airy and bright space with upscale contemporary artworks. While everything on display seemed quite pricey (the two smaller things we liked were over $8k), the work was original and extremely well done. They focus on contemporary arts and there were things in a variety of media. Many were quite large, of the sort one hangs in a house much more spacious than the one in which we live.

This is a place where you can wander around and look as much as you want for as long as you want. The person manning the gallery gives visitors plenty of space and time to look around and is readily available if one has questions.

We liked this place so much that we revisited it when we returned on Saturday to go to the galleries that were not open when we were here Thursday night. The second visit was as satisfying as the first and some of the pieces seemed even better on a second viewing.

There are no price tags anywhere, so if you like something, you have to ask the price. The old adage, "If you have to ask what it costs, you probably can't afford it." seems to apply here. That said, what they had was a delight to look at, and looking is free.
