We stayed right by the canal on Chaparral Road. Nice canal walk to Old Scottsdale for great food and entertainment. Just watch out for the bikes, some go fast!

We loved the walk by the canal. The buildings are attractive, as is the landscaping. Easy access to shopping and dining areas. You can walk or cycle along the canal, way past central Scottsdale itself.

Spending time in Scottsdale I recommend getting to the downtown area and walking along the Canal. Very pretty with all the new buildings and vegetation.

My trip to the canal was disappointing. The pictures I had seen were apparently enhanced. It wasn't as vivid or colorful as portrayed in the photos.

Would a gentleman get in trouble for paddling a canoe in the canals?

Anyway, yes... 5 star - It's beautiful to walk along the canals in the desert.

We saw the AZ Canal in Old Town Scottsdale.. if you have a chance to walk along the canal don't miss it. We walked up one side and the other.. saw lots of hummingbirds too which was super cool.

This is a major Canal in Maricopa County that led to the development of several small communities around it, after construction was completed in May 1885 with the help of William John Murphy. The total length is more than 130 miles across the Phoenix Metropolitan area, and it transports water to the northern side of the Salt River. The aqueduct is 80 feet across, with a depth of more than 24 feet, and the water level is 16.5 feet deep. It is a critical part of the infrastructure of Scottsdale.

It is especially beautiful in Old Town Scottsdale, where the banks are decorated with lights, sculptures and artwork. It is a featured backdrop for many high-end restaurants. Several bridges crossing it form wonderful photo-ops.

There are biking and walking paths alongside it in many areas. No swimming is allowed, but fishing is permitted in selected areas with a special license.

We came across several parts of it during our stay in Scottsdale, and took numerous pictures alongside it, and from over the bridges

It’s a very pleasant walk to take when staying in Scottsdale. We walked from the bridge downtown to The Arizona Falls and back.

Biking would be a pleasure on this path as well.

We did the walk twice while here and enjoyed it very much .

Great city sights along the canal along with peace and quiet as you move toward the falls.
