Learn about something new, by touring the smallish Museum, connected to Pullman cars, $2 each, FREE huge hall of miniature trains with environments... Many guage types. Snack shack has completely reasonable Hebrew hot dog meals, even with chili! Under $5 each. Has carousel for kids and you can ride mini train $2, about 10 minutes in length.

This was a perfect family outing with young children. It’s a big park with picnic shelters, grassy space, a great shaded playground, a snack shop, a small museum (including two historical train cars you can go into), a model train museum (which is free), a train you can ride, and a carousel. The train and the carousel require tickets. Tickets, museum admission, and food are not too expensive and lines are minimal (we went on a Sunday morning and a Wednesday morning) so you don’t feel gauged or nickled and dimed as with bigger touristy places like the Arizona Boardwalk. Overall just wonderful.

Free to park and enter, this park is great. Nominal fees to enter the small museum/historic train and ride on a couple small railroads. It is the perfect place for a weekend family trip and picnic. Plus there is a free model railroad building that is full of amazing displays. It was a fun way to spend an hour or two on a weekend morning.

The land, all 100 acres was gifted to the people of Scottsdale by McCormick and the model railway was the brainchild of Stillman. How brilliant this was to make a place where families can come and enjoy the outdoors while taking in a bit of railway history. The quote on the wall of the model train building summed it all up - " It is never too late to have a happy childhood". Trains have a magical way of bring out the child in us. Such a lovely place to enjoy a few hours -

The resort I stayed at was straight across from this park. It is mainly geared towards children but if you are ever in Scottsdale at around Christmas time, they have a very grandeur Christmas display. Off Christmas season, it is a very quiet park with a very exquisite train museum and it would be a great place for any Train enthusiast to go and see.

Stopped by briefly late in the afternoon to check this place out. Far exceeded expectations! The staff at the little gift shop was most helpful, and we made a quick tour of the facility. We will go back to tour more in-depth.

Model train museum/display was quite impressive. Multiple gauges are displayed, and the dioramas are incredible. Also have a full size engine and Pullman car available for viewing.

Small garden steam train was in operation while we were there...a definite must for the little ones, along with the carousel.

While we were there, there were very few people (late on a Monday afternoon), so don't know how crowded it gets. But regardless this is worth exploring!

I think I read this was rated the #1 park in the country or something like that. Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but we have local parks in Raleigh, NC (Pullen Park) that are just as great, if not better-in my opinion. We went on a day when it had been raining and the park was deserted. When I purchased tickets for the train and carousel, the lady at the desk had to radio someone to come out and fire up the rides for us. Seriously, there was one family with mom, baby and toddler and another family with mom and dad, two teenage girls and grandparents and us. We rode the carousel by ourselves and it was fun. Then we rode the train with everyone else in attendance. They were setting up for Christmas, so I guess we got a sneak peak of what was to come. We went to the playground to play and it started raining again, so we ran to a shelter. We checked out the "old western town" in the rain and then hit the road. It was a fun afternoon.

This is a beautiful park with lots of activities especially for children. They were decorating for the Halloween Spook-Trackular that was starting that evening - lots of fun decorations. We aren't big museum goers but we enjoyed touring the Pullman car used by four past presidents and hearing about it from one of their young tour guides.

Loved that this park was great for little kids (3yrs and 1yr). It’s free to enter and walk around. To ride the small train around the perimeter of the park is $3/person, and our 3yr old loved it! The carousel was also fun. There’s 2 pretty large playgrounds, lots of picnic areas, and clean restrooms.
The indoor museum space is currently closed due to COVID-19 precautions, so we just enjoyed the outdoor area.

Must see for children and in my case, toddlers! You can choose to go here and not spend any money or you can buy train tickets and carousel tickets ~$3/ticket for over 3.

The playground and the railroad museum are completely free and are very entertaining by itself. The Pullman car here was used for four different presidents as their mode for transportation! My husband coined it "train force one". It's on the National list of historical places and is worth checking out.
