We took our kids hiking (age 6 and 8) and it was perfect. There are a number of trails to select depending on time and difficulty. We hiked Goldmine. It was a bit challenging for the kids (use caution as there is a lot of loose rock), but the view from the top is amazing. Inside the ranger station is a gift shop and there are animals and other educational items to help kids learn about the desert environment and wildlife. My kids loved that.

This hike is easy and serves as a great warm-up for the day. It's best to arrive early since part of the trail is shared with mountain bikers and horseback riders, which can lead to crowds on weekends. The trail can be accessed easily from either side of the San Tan Mountains.

Went to San Tan Regional Park to hike on a Tuesday morning. The fee is $7/vehicle or $2/individual on foot or bike. When you park there is a restroom and visitor area. The trails are very well marked and easy to follow. They are very good for mountain bikers - beginners would have no trouble on these trails. There are horseback riders as well and trail rides take place. Trails are plenty wide enough that it is easy to step aside for bikers and horseback riders. The views are beautiful. There are loops so it is easy to plan your hike according to the distance you would like to go. The nap they offer at the entry location is great - showing holes, trails, difficulty and lengths.

We hiked 6 miles total - started on little leaf to goldmine, then crossed onto San Tan, stayed on San Tan until Hedgehog then hooked back up with San Tan to finish the hike to the entrance station and parking lot. The 6 mile hike took us 2.5 hours at an easy pace.

Definitely would recommend this hike for all hiker abilities.

Get qualified people to work at the park, there are want to be rangers leaving notices on cars for fatuous violations that are clearly not a violation. Trails are nothing to brag about. Superstition Mountains are much better and the few minute more drive is well worth it.

I've hikes MILES here. Almost every trail-from beginners to experts, you'll find something. Start off Goldmine or on the other side at the Ranger Station; there are several loops depending on how much time you have.

This area has mountain trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding for all levels. There are some great round trip trails that you can make long or short. Excellent evening programs with rangers. Great parking. Easy access. So enjoy this local mountain park. Get up Goldmine Mountain for some nice views.

Great close in place to view nature! I went to visit the grave markers of the original miners that were looking for gold on the mountain. Only about a total of a mile to hike to graves. Start you hike on the back entrance to the park and not from the visitors center.

As far as hiking goes, it’s probably more of a three-star location, but this is my home away from home, where I go to find myself so that’s worth an extra. There are some challenging trails, but nothing like cresting camelback mountain so you’ll want to manage your expectations. Most everyone I’ve ever crossed paths with here is super friendly. Fun place with a great story. Bring water, especially in the summer, as there is limited shade.

Trails are excellent, providing a variety of levels and distance to get out in the fresh air. Tackled in Summer best in the morning while coo, and winter at daylight. Great parking, maps, water, restrooms and the wonderful desert to enjoy.

These people treated me like crap. I went there last week with a couple of my friends and after our hike they bombarded us with questions and accused us of stealing when we went into the gift shop. One woman said "You better watch what you're doing, I've been around boys like you for a long time" "what?" I said confused. "Don't get smart Alec with me" so I left the store and began walking home waiting for my mom to come and pick us up. After we got about halfway down the road a car slams on it's breaks and rolls in reverse. There were probably tire marks in the road. After we saw that we began to run for our lives not knowing if it was a kidnapper. I called my mother as i was running and told her what was happening. She talked to the man and he was very rude. He accused us of yelling "obscenities" at him but didnt have an explanation for what we said. Then my mom brought up the woman accusing us of stealing and he denied it all. Later my mom called the park to talk to the woman and she and the man denied everything once again. I will not return to this place anytime soon, thanks Ranger Pete!
