We were driving around town and decided to take a closer look at Thumb Butte and found ourselves in the middle of Prescott National Forest. We drove quite a long ways, up and up. So beautiful. It was a chilly day and we weren't fully prepared to go exploring, but we will come back, properly equipped, to take a more... More

The barely used forest roads give some of the best views to be found. Camping abounds but still close to the city!

Hiking in the Prescott National Forest is a nature lovers dream. especially this time of the year when the forest is blooming with wild flowers after the monsoons. You have elevation changes that provide panoramic views of Prescott. trails that walk along old rail beds. always something to see on every hike and trail.

We decided to avoid I-17N over the Labor Day weekend and take the less popular and longer scenic route from Phoenix to Prescott. We're so happy we did. Just beyond Wickenburg, on US Route 89 is the where this beautiful 55-mile adventure begins. The valleys are beautiful and the mountain views are stunning as you climb to near 5800 ft.... More

Just moved here from Temecula, CA and we walk in the forest w/ our 100lb pity. We have a ball and so does he! I feel like we're on vacation every day. God brought us here after we had a few obstacles to overcome. We're thankful everyday for what we have.

Took scenic route home from Prescott to Wickenburg to west edge of PHX (303) to southern AZ. Was nice drive, skip if you're in a rush. Mountains all around, horse ranches in valley.

Living near the start of this forest is great as it's almost part of our backyard! Trails galore... hikes to lakes with wonderful views and wildlife.
