Camelback mountain is a challenging and rewarding hike. Parking at the trail head is limited so go early. We went when the temps were cool but if you go in the heat bring LOTS of water. This trail starts pretty steep and gets steeper. Climbing up rocks often with short segments of flat. The view from the top is worth... More

Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak are very close to each other and I was fortunate to hike both of them. This piece is my impression of the two for those who have to pick just one. P has much more parking available but does not have bathrooms or water available. C has bathrooms and water And much less parking. C... More

great hike in the center of Scottsdale. No parking at the mountain, you have to park on the main road and it is probably a 3/4 mile walk just to get to the base where the hiking trails start.

This mountain has multiple checkpoints for the less experienced hikers to still enjoy its beauty. If you were to do the entire hike to the top it would take you about 3-4 hours depending on your physical ability. The best time of the day to go would be 6am (not kidding) because of the severe heat in the summer months.... More

Camelback Mountain is a gorgeous and strenuous hike. The views from the top are definitely worth it. It is a tough workout and a unique hike. Pretty steep climb, areas you have to hold a chain to go up and lots of rock hopping. We had tried several times to go but were unable to find parking (and there is... More

Started at Echo Canyon Trail. 1,000 ft elevation gain in about a 1.2 miles. Good warm up for the Grand Canyon. Bring lots of water and snacks. A girl was air lifted out the day we went due to dehydration.

We hiked the Echo Trail side of Camelback Mountain. It was about 2.28 miles round-trip, with an elevation of 2,704 ft at the top. The trail starts out easy, and then increases in difficulty as you travel up the mountain. Definitely an athletic climb. Caution should be taken towards the summit as you will have to climb rocks. I don't... More

You must be in tip top shape or go really slow to make this journey. It is rated a difficult level for a reason. You become one with the rocks most of the way up. It is a fantastic view once you get there.

We hiked the Cholla Trail to the top and it was wonderful! Great views of Phoenix and the rock climbing was a nice challenge. Even though its only 3.5 miles round trip, it takes a solid 3 hours to complete.

Camelback mountain has two different trails to the summit. Cholla train and Echo Canyon Trail. I think Echo Canyon is more steep and intense compared to Cholla. I like going up and down both on one long hike. I have had to increase my fitness with multiple visits to be able to do that. Incredible 360 view once your at... More
