About
Over 12 acres of forests, peat bog and mountains surround Llanos del Castor, a Winter Recreational Centre, located near the city of Ushuaia. Here, we have different -white activities- for the whole family, different from the winter classics, to make sure your holidays are UNFORGETTABLE! We are also conveniently located on the km 3033 of the National Route 3, only 7 km away from Cerro Castor. During winter season we have two main excursions, Panorama Blanco during day time and Silencio Andino at night. They consist on the following activities: - Dogsledding Ride. - Snowmobile Circuit. - Snowshoeing. - Local food. The activities are done through snowy forests and frozen peatbog so you can appreciate the real Patagonian winter at its best. After this, we will invite you into our restaurant to have some warm local food and try our craft mountain beer. The price of the excursions include transport from and back to your hotel. Activities can also be done by separate. Through our Centre you can access the cityĀ“s Nordic Skiing Track called "Pipef", we donĀ“t charge any entry fee and we provide a rental for the equipment necessary for this sport. ItĀ“s an economic, easier, alternative to the classic ski for everyone in the family to have fun! In order to know more details about this and our other activities, please refer to our website. Activities such as dog sledding, snowmobile, snowshoeing etc. are amazing. Staff are great and food's the best! Highly recommend!

Completely disappointing

We were really excited about this tour with the ride on the sleigh with dogs but it was really disappointing. The sleigh was poorly made of wood, very rustic and not rigid at all. I felt it was going to break any minute during the ride. It was los very uncomfortable with no cushions but just a plain table with a blanket on top. The ride on the snowmobiles was very very slow. Itā€™s clear there should be a speed limit for safety but 10mi/hr is too slow. The walk on the snow with the rackets was te worst part. The girl who guided us had the worst attitude (zero interest) and said nothing interesting during the walk. We learned nothing new. The highlight of the walk was that a girl had an accident a few days before somewhere else and that you could see the snow groomers from the ski center from there. On top of all, the food had no flavor, everybody around us left more than half their dish. Definitely, the worst tour in Ushuaia of the 4 I did and very expensive for what it was.

Terrible, the guy run with the motorcycle very slow, the dogs so tired to push the sleigh , the guide treated me and my girlfriend very bad , stupid guy, we walk 5 minutes on the darkness with like a idiot on the mountain , donā€™t spend their money with this tour, was the worst on that i have done in my life

Must go if in Ushuaia!

We decided last minute to do this excursion and I am so happy we did! They picked us up at our hotel in the morning and took us to the middle of the mountains. We did snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and rode in a dogsled. The people that work here and also live here were amazing super nice and very helpful. They also gave us a delicious lunch that had chicken with vegetables and the best homemade bread ever! If you want a fun half day excursion I highly recommend coming here for this experience.

A great few nights at the refugio

My husband and I stayed at the refugio as Llanos del Castor for about 5 nights in February. It was the perfect place to kick back and relax and soak in the majestic surroundings. The Emerald Lagoon is very close by (we used their bikes and rode to it) as well as other great hikes. The amenities are basic but the cabin is very cosy with a fire constantly burning. The people who run the place are lovely. If you are looking for a rustic mountain retreat... this place is for you. Did I mention the home-brewed craft beer...!!?
