- Eric RFort Myers, Florida428 contributionsRent a car!So a car rental with the most extensive insurance was 27k pesos. Any tour is 50k per person. Of course you must know how to drive a standard. Easy drive and way more flexibility. We saw nation park and then drove to both ski resorts. Gas is an amazing 10k pesos per gallon or 2.5k pesos a liter. Park is beautiful…tons of hiking trails. Some closed and muddy in October. Very nice lodge with beer, coffee and food. Cool to hang out at.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 13 October 2023
- Try2TravelSustainablyHamilton, Canada401 contributionsA great day visitThe lodge has a decent meal, it is a little unorganized about ordering. There is a good small information center as well. We rented a car to drive here which allowed us to explore the whole park on our own time. We drove to the very end and walked the 1km boardwalk which was nice but crowded in the low season. From the main lodge there are two paths, one that takes 2 hours to the board which was along the water and nice and the other one that was closed but that takes you to a view point which looked great. In October all the other trails were closed.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 October 2023

We go picked up from the airport and riven about 3 hours to our yurt within the park area. Hiked for 3 days. enjoyed everything we could. Things at hotels can be expensive, but it's certainly worth it. All services were great.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 March 2024

Great to send a post card from the end of the world post office. Stunning views and blue skies made for magical photos. Flora really interesting and lots of wildflowers and lichen. Not rushed. Nice lunch on the banks of the lake. Very pretty and picturesque. Definitely recommend if you have a day or 2 here before getting on to an Antartica vessel -Hurtegrutin- in out case.
it takes a day so you can't fit in a town walk or a fish restaurant lunch if you have only a day in time.

A friend who was going on the same Antarctica cruise as us, had booked a half day trip to the National Park so we decided to join him. We were collected from our hotel in a large bus which travelled around the various hotels collecting people for the trip. Arriving at the ‘End of the World’ train station we couldn’t believe the crowd, but in no-time we boarded the train. The train was very comfortable, even though it was fairly crowded. We were provided with ear plugs to hear the stories of the early prison life and the harsh life they endured. The scenery with the mountains in the background and some areas which resembled bogs in the foreground, was spectacular. It was so peaceful travelling through the forest stopping at some lookout points.
Then we caught a bus which drove us through the National Park, stopping at various points of interest along the way. Stopped at two beautiful lakes which were very picturesque on the beautiful sunny day. We managed to see black geese and a rare colourful Kingfisher. Finally, we drove down to the sea and returned back to our hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our morning outing, made even more so with the sun shining all the time. (Lucky for us),

We did a day tour with Antartur which invoked a 4 km walk to lovely viewing spot with great views, lunch and then a rafting trip.
It was an exceptional day - great guide and driver, lovely hike that was not too difficult, great lunch with wine and then an exciting rafting trip for about 1.5 hours. It was a great way to see different parts of the park.Highly recommended.

The park is huge, with many points of interest within. We took a tour, otherwise you would need a car. We saw beautiful lakes and the Beagle channel, both with the backdrop of high mountain peaks some covered in snow. Amazing views! The end of the world post office, where we got stamps in our passports confirming that we indeed visited the end of the Earth. The Panamerican rout 3 ends there. Canadian beavers introduced there a long time ago became a menace to that part of South America; the damage they do to the environment can be seen in the park.
Great experience. I would suggest to book a tour to see all these places.

The bus i took did not drop me to station 1, refuse to send me to station 1 and cheated to me that small walks around station 5/6 are better than the 2 hour trial starting at station 1.
So the sales person says the bus drop me at station 1, I can then walk to station 5/6. I dont know why, but the bus driver didn't ask and directly goes to station 5. I ask if i can go back, they say i can only get picked at station 1 at 7.30 if i want ( i went with the 2 pm bus). So i have no choice but only to walk around 3 small hikes back and forth around the last two stops. No explanation, and they try to persuade me that station 5/6 are much better.
When i get picked at 5 pm at station 5, this bus driver picked people from station 1 and 4. So what's the problem between them? Why cant you just say you stop at these stations?
But i missed the chance of getting stamps from the post office at the end of the world.
I am angry because, first, they didnt do their job. Second, they cheated to cover their mistake. Third, to be honest, i dont get why they cant just say they can stop on the stations if you are there. station 1 is by the road and there is no reason the bus cannot stop. If you can find the other two companies, better not to go with the bus next to the tourist information.

The 1/2 day bus tour to the park did not do the scenery justice. I believe it would be so much more interesting to get out and hike the trails and visit the lakes via trekking. You might see more birds and a lot less people. There is an interior to the park which I think must be much more beautiful than the dusty roads the tour buses and vans frequent. It is very close to the town of Ushuaia and seems like a great opportunity to visit the park on your own.

Enjoyed a wonderful trek beside Lago Roca. Watched woodpeckers search for grubs along the way. Once you get beyond the parking lot and away from tour buses, you can enjoy the beauty and quiet of the woods.

I found this enormous and beautiful park a bit frustrating mainly because I had limited time but others may love what frustrated me namely the fact that only a small portion of the park is accessible with a regular car making those areas, especially the area around the post office at the end of the world, quite busy. With all the visitors packed into one one hundredth of one percent of the area you are likely to see a line to send a post card or one to stand in the right place for that perfect picture but little or no wildlife. That said a twenty minute walk will get you to well worn areas but away from the mass of people.

This is a very cool park to hike in. The views are amazing and the trails are pretty well defined. It’s a bit of a distance from Ushuaia so you need to get a ride out there, bus or taxi is the easiest. The park charges 25 us to enter which is a bit pricey really but considering you are hiking in a park near the end of the world it’s worth it! They use the park fees to maintain the huge natural park lands around the city, so consider it a donation to preserve the pristine area. There was a park office with clean washrooms and you can buy water there, large parking area. The taxis and buses wait and drop off there.

We visited Parque Nacional Tierra Del Fuego in early February. We took the ‘End of the world train’ from the station just a short distance (8km) from Ushuaia through otherwise inaccessible parts following the winding Pipo River valley against the backcloth of stunning scenery including mountain views. We passed through ancient cut forest (tree cemetery), calling by the Macarena lenga forest before reaching the end of the line the National Park station. From here we walked through the park following the path through spectacular countryside. Aside from the great views, we observed wildlife including wild horses at close quarters.
Following a well trodden path we arrived at Lapataia Bay. This is the most southern point of the longest motorway in the world. Our arrival was marked by a sign that denotes the end of National Route 3, the last section of the Pan-American Highway. It’s as far as you drive in the Western Hemisphere.
We followed the boardwalk that led us to the bay, a remote fjord at the tip of Argentine Patagonia. The is a branch of the Beagle Channel through which we later to sail. The views were fantastic. A branch of the boardwalk was roped off, it looked like it was undergoing maintenance.
Whilst there are many visitors it was really only noticed around key points - the railway stations, the car park and around the famous sign denoting the end of the road / boardwalk viewing points. For the most part we saw few people on our walk.
It was a beautiful and memorable day.

Hi. I wanted to ask about your trip to the Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego. We plan to catch the train there. Is it possible to do do some of the walks from where the train ends? Thank-you! Annette
Written 11 August 2024
Hi Annette! I'm not sure, when I went I did some research to go on my own. But my guess is yes. But then to return, if not with the train, you would have to already have a ticket purchased in Ushuaia to use the same van that I used to return to the city (if you want, I can send you a photo I took there showing where the points are so you can wait for the van to pick you up). Or you would have to arrange in advance with a taxi driver in Ushuaia to pick you up at some point, because from what I researched, it is difficult to hail a taxi inside the park.
