While we were in Ushuaia, we boarded a catamaran for a wildlife cruise in the Beagle Channel. We cruised past both the Isla de los Pajaros (Bird Island) and the Isla de los Lobos (Sea Lion Island).
Bird Island and other nearby islands are covered by King Cormorants. A cruise in the Beagle Channel is definitely a must for Bird Island and all of the other sights.

If you make it all the way to Ushuaia, you have to take the time to gone of one of the many tour boats out to see all the wildlife and scenic views. Many options to chose from. Do your research and enjoy a wonder day.

Our Piratour Penguin Rookery + Beagle Channel excursion included a photo stop here at the Bird Island. Hundreds of cormorants! The boat will get you close enough for a good view. A must for the bird watcher; for us, the penguins were the highlight.

We took a boat tour from the cruise dock which travels through the Beagle Channel. They make a photo stop here for you to see the tons of cormorants and sea lions, but you do not get off, just take pictures from the boat. It is pretty with the snow capped mountains in the background.

Rocky island where you will not disembark and many boats approach. It is fascinating to see the cormorants nesting and flying. It should be combined with a boat tour of the sea lions and penguins. Beautiful scenery

Known as Bird Island this is on the Beagle Channel sightseeing cruise and is a rock islet in the Channel close to Ushuaia which is the nesting and gathering place of a large colony of cormorants. A must for the bird watcher/spotter.

Sorry. No penguins here, but there are hundreds of Cormorants. They are also beautiful birds. We enjoyed trying to photograph them in flight as we sailed past the island. There are a few sea lions nestled in amongst the birds. We were not sure if they had been voted off the sea lion island, but they looked happy!

This was our first experience seeing penguins in their native habitat. Our cruise ship dropped anchor, and zodiacs took us to the island where we could walk around seeing, hearing and smelling thousands of birds. Very engaging.

I did the Beagle Channel full tour and even the boat company (Rumbo Sur) doesn´t care much about it and don´t stop at the island.. just pass through it. Mostly probably because tourists are most interested to see the sea lions and penguins.
It sounds strange to me that Tripadvisor make it possible to rate this island if there is no tour that only goes to there. It´s just part of any Canal Beagle tour.
Maybe the short tours, meaning the ones that go only to the Light House and Sea Lions, gives people more time in this island to make their tour looks richer in attraction. But believe me, it might be interesting for the first 5 seconds. Birds are everywhere in the canal.

I experience this visit as part of the Channel of Beagle guided tour. It was amazing to see hundreds and hundred of birds in this inhabited island. Pretty cool.
