Stopping off at this island on a tour of the Beagle Channel from Ushuaia, this gives you a chance to stretch your legs on the clearly defined path, and a chance for some great view of Ushuaia and eastwards down the Beagle Channel

Take a boat tour with Patagonia Adventure Explorer for an unbelievable visual experience.

The tour takes you on a short hike to the peak of Bridges Island. Our naturalist, Andreane, was so sweet and knowledgeable. She gave us insight into the flora and fauna throughout our tour. The cushion plant is an interesting part of the ecosystem. It grows about an inch per year and is quite fragile. We also saw the Calafate plants and tiny yellow orchids.

She also told us about the Yamana natives who lived by having fire always with them, even in their canoes. This kept them warm as they roamed naked and also inspired early European explorers to name the region Tierra del Fuego-the Land of Fire. There is only one Yamana left and she is writing a dictionary to preserved the language.
